EXCLUSIVE: Hannah Waddingham is the latest star to sign up for Celebrity Gogglebox and the Ted Lasso and Game of Thrones actress will be on the show alongside musician Tim Minchin
Hannah Waddingham is set to star on Celebrity Gogglebox.
The actress has signed up to appear on the latest series of the hit Channel 4 show, the Daily Star can reveal. Bosses are thrilled they have convinced her to take part.
Since becoming a global star on Ted Lasso, she has landed roles in a string of Hollywood movies including Lilo & Stitch, The Fall Guy and the latest Mission Impossible flick. A show insider told the Daily Star: “Producers can’t believe their luck.
“Getting Hannah on board is a major coup. She’s such hot property at the moment… so many shows want her. This is one of the biggest signings in the history of Celebrity Gogglebox.”
Hannah agreed to do the series alongside award-winning musician, writer and performer Tim Minchin. The pair have already started filming and bosses are convinced they’ll be a big hit with viewers.
The insider added: “Hannah and Tim are a great combination. They have great banter that’s perfect for Celebrity Gogglebox. They’ve been watching First Dates, Squid Game and Building The Band. Their reactions have been hilarious.”
Hannah and Tim will make their debut on Friday’s episode (July 11), which airs at 9pm on Channel 4. Other stars taking part in the latest series include radio presenter Sara Cox and her pal Clare Hamilton.
The pair love doing the show because it means they get to spend plenty of time together. Sara said: “I love watching and shouting at the telly and I love hanging out and having a laugh with my best mate, so doing Gogglebox with Clare is the dream!”
Clare added: “I am a huge Gogglebox fan, so to be doing this with my best friend of over 30 years is quite literally a goosebump moment for me.”
Love Island host Maya Jama has also appeared on the latest series. Last month, she told fans: “She said: “We are so excited to be on Gogglebox. Make sure you tune in and hear us chatting absolute rubbish.”
It’s the latest high profile TV project for Maya. In recent years the London lass has taken over as host of Love Island and its All Stars spin-off, and earlier this year she replaced Rita Ora on the panel for The Masked Singer.
Celebrity Gogglebox first aired in 2019 following the success of Gogglebox. The star-studded spin-off has seen the likes of Rylan Clark, Davina McCall, Tom Grennan, Roman Kemp, and Laura Whitmore give their takes on the best TV moments of the week.
