Oasis fans have flocked to Heaton Park in Manchester as the iconic band, fronted by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, return to the stage after 16 years
It’s a monumental night for Manchester as Oasis make their triumphant return to Heaton Park, 16 years after their split.
An estimated 80,000 fans flocked to the venue, with some queuing for hours before the gates swung open at 3pm. Following this, it was a lengthy 5-hour wait until the renowned brothers graced the stage.
The tour was announced last August, sending die-hard fans into a frenzy as they spent hours vying for the coveted tickets.
Their inaugural performance took place last week in Cardiff, but the buzz shows no signs of abating as ‘Oasismania’ has officially hit Manchester.
Oasis are set to perform five nights at Heaton Park, belting out some of their biggest hits to a mix of new and long-time fans who have eagerly awaited this moment, reports the Manchester Evening News.
As they stepped onto the stage, fans were puzzled to see Liam still donning his signature parka despite the heatwave.
Speaking of the scorching heat, fans were spotted sporting bucket hats and guzzling ice-cold drinks to stay cool under the late afternoon sun.
While Manchester is touted as the most thrilling venue for Oasis fans, some took to social media to grumble about the crowd noise.
On a Reddit thread, u/Hot_Space82 commented: “Is it just me or does this crowd sound dead?” u/Consistent_Zebra_783 responded: “Ballot system. Front standing could just rock up anytime. Clearly was never going to be full of hardcore oasis fans. GA probably more rocking.”
Another fan, u/easy_c0mpany80, shared their thoughts: “the crowd seems quite tame in that right side tbh, seems to be a fair bit of space too. Everytime I saw Oasis I was always close to the front and you could barely move”.
However, u/bradtheinvincible countered: “You stand in the sun for 5 hours and then feel like you can rage?” Meanwhile, others suggested that the sound quality on live streams might be to blame for the perceived lack of energy from the crowd.
