Dr Emily MacDonagh has opened up about becoming a stepmum to Peter Andre’s children Princess and Junior, who he shares with his ex-wife Katie Price
Peter Andre’s wife has confirmed she will not be starring in Princess Andre’s documentary.
On a recent podcast Dr Emily MacDonagh discussed her experience as a stepmother to Junior and Princess with host Giovanna Fletcher. Giovanna asked: “Did it feel daunting being in your early 20s and suddenly finding yourself in that stepmum role?”.
Emily replied: “It did, but the fact it developed slowly was what made it manageable. They’re so lovely and in 14 years, I’ve told them off less times than I can count on one hand between them,” reports the Mirror.
“They’re so lovely; they’ve made it so easy for me. I think about all the years really fondly. They’re great. You would have thought we’d fallen out at some point or I’d have to really have a go at them, but no.”
Emily admitted that she “always feels lucky” that Princess and Junior have “accepted her into their family”.
“When we had Millie and Theo – and Belle as well – it kind of cements you even more as a family. However, I always feel like I’m not their mum and that’s something I always have to make sure I tread carefully with.”
“I always see it, I think I would see it a bit more like being a big sister. Which, I don’t know if that’s the right way to look at it, but I think, you know, I always try and give them guidance, but I wouldn’t overstep that.”
She explained: “Like, I obviously try and support them like I would do with my own kids. I always try and be the same. I’m quite strict though, on my kids. That’s what I would say to the older kids, it’s lucky there’s an age gap you know?”
“Because then you guys don’t need to worry about silly rules I have, screen time and stuff like that. I’m like, you guys can be exempt because you’re older. The age gap is enough that my kids don’t ask the question: ‘Well, why are they allowed to have the screens?”
