Hollywood legend John Goodman was recently spotted at the Smurfs premiere looking completely different after losing an incredible amount of weight in recent years
John Goodman looks so different that you’ll do a double take at his latest red carpet snaps.
The Hollywood star was spotted at the premiere for the new Smurfs movie as he voices Papa Smurf. The 73-year-old looked dapper in a navy blue suit, a white shirt and black tie, but fans are simply baffled at his appearance.
The star has lost an incredible 200lbs on his recent weight loss journey and looks better than ever. John gave a warm smile to photographers, working the room as they captured shots of him on the Smurfs red carpet.
John reportedly began his health journey way back in 2007 when he made the decision to stop drinking at 392lbs.
He spoke to David Letterman in 2011 and explained: “I’d get off of Roseanne [series] every spring. I’d lose 60 pounds every spring [but] I’d gain it back and then some, every year. It’s going to be an ongoing process for the rest of my life.”
Goodman eventually cut sugar from his diet and began a rigorous workout routine six days a week.
However, things didn’t exactly go smoothly for the star and he later admitted that he would reward himself with “a six pack or whatever” after a period of losing weight, which meant he would “go back to old habits”.
In 2017 he said: “This time, I wanted to do it slowly. Move, exercise. I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore.”
A year later he told AARP that the trick is “portion control” because he “was just shoving everything into his mouth”.
John’s red carpet transformation snaps come soon after he recently admitted he hasn’t spoken to Roseanne Barr, his former on-screen wife in the beloved American sit-com, for almost 10 years.
He spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and said: “I’d rather doubt if she wants to talk to me. We haven’t talked for about seven or eight years.”
