Another Harry Potter star banned from driving after Emma Watson court hearing

Emma Watson and Zoe Wanamaker have both been banned from driving after they were caught speeding in separate incidents on the roads

It seems Harry Potter stars aren’t so good with muggle cars

Actress Emma Watson’s Harry Potter co-star has been slapped with driving bans at the same court. Watson, famed for her role as Hermione Granger in the film series, was caught speeding in her blue Audi at 38mph in a 30mph zone in Oxford, on the evening of July 31 last year.

The 35-year-old, currently studying at the University of Oxford, was handed a six-month ban and ordered to pay a total of £1,044 at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (July 16). Watson’s solicitor Mark Haslam, informed the court that she is a student, adding: “She is in a position to pay the fine.”

In a separate case, Zoe Wanamaker, who featured in Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone in 2001 as flying teacher Madam Hooch, was caught speeding on August 7, 2024, on the M4 in Newbury, Berkshire.

Wanamaker’s lawyer Duncan Jones stated that she was not seeking “special treatment” and accepted the fine.

Both Watson and Wanamaker had nine points on their licences prior to these speeding incidents.

District Judge Arvind Sharma, during sentencing, added three more points to their licences, resulting in both being disqualified for six months from now.

Neither attended their brief hearings.

The Sun reported that Watson was filmed haggling with tow-truck drivers when they loaded her Audi onto a flatbed in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, in February last year.
