Lewis Capaldi hasn’t written music in six months as he recovers from mental health issues. He learning to take foot off gas and has his brother helping him shed pounds after tipping 20 stone.
LEWIS Capaldi hasn’t written a song in six months, but he’s not worried for the first time in his life.
The Scot made a spectacular comeback hitting No1 with Survive recently which will feature on a new EP later in the year.
However, an album is a way off because he’s taking the foot off the gas for his mental health again.
Lewis spilled: “I haven’t written a song in like six months recently. So for the last six months, I’m not writing anything.
“I feel like it was important to just take a bit of a break off. I find that I do struggle a lot with writing.”
Lewis has never found writing a quick process admitting his mega chart-topper Someone You Loved took “like a year to finish”.
He added: “I don’t wake up. ‘I have to write something’. That thing of people saying, and I do get it, the best songs come the quickest or whatever, but that’s like my biggest song and that took me so long. I think there is something to be said for persevering with stuff. When I get back to writing now, as sometimes it’s really difficult, like I really have a hard time, just I find it hard sometimes to get what I’m thinking, articulate what I’m trying to say..
“I overthink things now a lot more. Because I feel that people may actually hear this thing that I’m making. Whereas before it was like, no c**t’s going to f**king listen to this.”
However, he’s excited for fans to hear the EP: “There’s a song called The Day That I Die that I’m really, really proud of. And it’s just like, yeah, it’s about that time when I was really feeling at my lowest that I’m really excited for people to hear.”
Before then Lewis is on a health kick and shedding the pounds with help from his brother.
“My brother’s training me at the minute,” he said. “He’s like a qualified personal trainer now. I’ve lost two stone. I want to lose more, because I was 20 stone at the start of the year…so I’m trying to get on top of that. I feel better about it…I f**king hate it. I mean, people can probably tell by looking at me, but…I f**king hate it.”
