An Oasis fan’s plan of watching the band live was derailed when she went into labour just minutes before they were due on stage.

Travelling from her home in Hull, 34-year-old Faye Williams dreamed to seeing the band’s hotly anticipated return to Manchester at Heaton Park.

The now mum-of-two fell pregnant last year with the due date being the day before the concert was taking place on Saturday July 12. Once at the gig, she sat near the first aid tent with other pregnant mums. Just as the first support act Cast walked on stage Faye entered labour.

She was quickly whisked to North Manchester General Hospital and gave birth to a healthy baby girl who she is yet to name. But she’s had lots of Oasis themed suggestions including “Sally” or “Lyla.”

Faye said: “We’d waited a long time for Oasis to get back together – It all seemed perfect -the weather, the park, Oasis. We’ve been waiting so long and were so ready to be there.

“I had absolutely no signs I was ready to give birth, I have had a child before so knew what to expect, but it all went from zero to one hundred so quickly.”

She added: “As Cast came on, I went off. So many locals came together to help us, we’re so grateful to them all. I may have missed the entire Oasis concert I’d been waiting for my whole life, but I gained a daughter – which still feels like a win.”

Faye and her Husband Steve were “so excited” to watch the iconic band when they managed to get hold of tickets alongside her my sister and brother in-law and our two friends.

Following landing tickets Faye, fell pregnant in October last year with the due date lining up just a day before when they were supposed to watch the two bothers perform.

Faye said: “Since we got the tickets, I’d become pregnant and the due date was the day before the concert was taking place.

“We decided to risk it, you only live once and we were never going to get the experience of seeing Oasis reform in their home city ever again. We absolutely love Oasis and this was going to be up there with one of the best events of our lives (outside of our kids).”

The fan also revealed that the couple took precautions readying maternity bags and provisions at her sister’s house an hour away.

She also managed to park outside Heaton Park after a kind resident called Mark offered his driveway to her. Faye had put a call-out on social media.

When she entered the venue she sat by the first aid tent in the shade and said she had “absolutely no signs” that she was going to give birth. She said: “I was already sat by the first aid tent as it was in the shade, there were plenty of other pregnant women there too.

“I actually saw quite a lot of noticeable pregnant women, so it seems like we’d all had the same idea. But all of a sudden it just happened.”

Faye has told she was helped by the medical team who took her to the North Manchester General Hospital where the maternity team were waiting for her, and gave birth to a baby girl after a two and a half hour labour a “whirlwind”. experience.

Emma Coulton, Head of North Manchester General Hospital’s Saint Mary’s Midwifery Service, was full of praise for how Faye handled the situation.

She said: “Faye did extremely well considering the unexpected circumstances. Faye remained focused, and she proceeded to have a very quick birth. We are delighted for the family and wish them all the very best, they were all lovely and it was a pleasure to provide care for them.”

Faye has now safely returned back home to Hull with her baby girl.

She said: “We didn’t know gender, but we are incredibly happy to welcome a beautiful baby girl into our family. We’ve since tried to get new tickets to go to this weekend’s performances, but unfortunately it’s been impossible to get any.

“Naturally now I have told everybody about the birth, all my friends have been asking if she will be called Sally or Lyla – but we still haven’t settled on a name. We’ll just roll with it.”
