Rylan Clark has been forced to pull out of his Radio 2 show as his mum Linda was rushed to hospital.
The former X Factor star, 36, normally hosts his BBC Radio 2 show from 3pm to 6pm on Saturdays. However, he’s revealed he’s unable to appear on the airwaves tomorrow (July 19) as Linda was taken to an emergency hospital ward and isn’t well.
Rylan took to Instagram to share an update with fans, writing: “Mummy Linda isn’t well sadly so I won’t be hosting the show tomorrow. Thank you to the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
“Especially Tanya who really looked after my mum. Will keep you updated as she’s on the mend. She’s a trooper.”

Linda has battled with Crohn’s disease since her thirties. The condition causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive system – and she’s had to have multiple ops to remove damaged parts of her bowel and takes daily medicines for it.
Rylan has discussed how much the condition affects Linda’s everyday life and how it’s “life-threatening”. He told Daily Mail: “My mum lost her job because of the disease – it totally dictates her life. When she was diagnosed it really hit her hard because it wasn’t picked up early enough.
“The earlier you pick it up the easier it is to control. I grew up with the disease as well because she was ill – it is life-threatening. It’s scary.

“It could be difficult when I was young because sometimes she couldn’t come on school trips and other times she was so embarrassed about her symptoms that I couldn’t have my mates to stay over.”
Crohn’s, which is chronic, includes symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal pain, weight loss, fatigue, and blood and mucus in your stool.
In 2023, Linda suffered a nasty fall while on holiday in Marbella which required her to have emergency surgery. In 2018, she contracted sepsis and nearly died.
Rylan said of the Marbella accident: “So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holiday in a good few years and sadly she’s had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out here. She’s not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated.”
Luckily, she recovered well and a few months later, he told The Sun: “My mum is doing really really well… she’s really really great. She’s stumbling about Lakeside, so she’s very much back to normal.”
Rylan and Linda became fan favourite on Celebrity Gogglebox. They first appeared on the Channel 4 spin-off in 2019 and appear on the latest series.
