Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack spoke proudly of his “incredible” dad’s life and career just weeks before the Black Sabbath singer’s tragic death — describing him as “unique and funny.”
Jack, 39, spoke fondly of his legendary rocker dad at a screening of a new documentary about his life, saying: “He is an incredible man. He really is. His contribution to music is bigger than his faults.”
He was speaking at a screening of a documentary called ‘The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne’ in Birmingham on July 4, the day before Ozzy’s final ever performance at the Back To The Beginning concert at Villa Park.
Jack said: “What are my three words to describe my dad? I would say funny, unique and powerful,” adding: “This whole weekend has been emotional.”
Jack also spoke about a planned Ozzy biopic, which will be even more eagerly awaited by fans now, the Mirror reports. He said: “We do have the film on the way. We have a lot of good forward momentum on the Ozzy biopic. We have a director attached now and the script is done and Sony Studios is going to be producing it.
“We are really excited about it so maybe we will do the premiere here in Birmingham. It is about to go through a script rewrite. It’s going to be raw. We are not pulling any punches, we are really laying it all out. The director we have is absolutely phenomenal.
“I can’t say who he is but we are very lucky to have him and he is a die hard fan. I have the smiley knee tattoos that my dad has and he (our director) has them too. The film is in good hands. If the evil overlords of Hollywood give us the green light we could be filming in the spring so maybe it will be out summer 2027 fingers crossed.”
Tragically, Ozzy will never get to see the film about his life. In a statement, Jack and his family sadly confirmed Ozzy has died on Tuesday.
The statement said: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
The Prince of Darkness had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease in the years before his death. And he was in the midst of a worrying health battle before he was set to take to the stage at Villa Park to play in front of around 50,000 fans.
The music legend had not played a live show in nearly seven years, but he made it his mission to produce a knockout performance for Black Sabbath fans for their farewell show at Villa Park. Ozzy committed to his rehab by moving a specialist coach into his home, to give him the fitness he needed to produce the performance.
Speaking about what would be his last show, the late legend said: “It’s my final encore; it’s my chance to say thank you to my fans for always supporting me and being there for me. I couldn’t have done my final show anywhere else. I had to go back to the beginning.”
