Jeremy Clarkson’s The Farmer’s Dog Pub has announced a big change to its operation after one fan shared their complaints about it opening at 5pm on a Monday afternoon
Jeremy Clarkson’s pub has announced a big change to the way its run after one cheeky customer had a specific request. The Clarkson’s Farm star has a reputation for being a bit of a grump, but the announcement from The Farmer’s Dog Pub might prove he’s actually a softie.
Over the weekend, one hopeful punter asked Jeremy on X: “Can you open your pub for me about six hours earlier on Monday, please? I was going to visit, but didn’t realise you don’t open until 5pm.”
Former Top Gear host Jeremy replied: “Mondays are when our brilliant staff catch their breath.”
But it seems he has since had a further change of heart.
A post shared on the pub’s Facebook page showed the staff all together for a group snap. And the caption revealed that they would be shut completely on Mondays now.
It said: “We are giving our team Mondays to spend time recharging – we will be fully open Tuesday to Sunday in both the pub and the Grand Tour tent.”
Additionally, the new opening hours have been added to the pub’s website.
While it is now closed on Mondays, it is open from 11am to 11pm Tuesdays to Saturdays, and 11am to 10.30pm on Sundays.
Jeremy bought the pub in Asthall, in the Cotswolds, for £1million. At the time, it was called The Windmill.
Since then, he did it up and changed its name to The Farmer’s Dog, perhaps a nod to his Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm, and his Diddly Squat Farm project.
The pub opened its doors to customers last August, and has been a hit ever since.
The website reads: “The Pub isn’t the only attraction at The Farmer’s Dog. If the pub is full, or you fancy a quicker visit, head outside to our tent and check out: Hops & Chops, The Farmer’s Puppy and Diddly Squat Farm Shop.”
Hops and Chops, unsurprisingly, is a butchers and bottle shop, selling British-farmed meat and Hawkstone lager or cider.
The Farmer’s Puppy appears to be a smaller version of the pub, open during peak hours of 9.30am to 3pm Tuesday to Thursday, and 9.30am to 4pm on Friday to Sunday.
The Diddly Squat Farm Shop sells what is described as “the best of the farm” – a fancy gift shop, essentially.
