Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have been married for almost two years and share three children together – but sources say the couple have been ‘struggling’ behind closed doors
Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash’s increasingly busy work schedules are putting a strain on their relationship.
The couple, who have a blended family of six children, are making a conscious effort to take time for themselves and remember why they’re a great match. Their BBC reality show, This is Us, which documents their life at Pickle Cottage, is just one of the many commitments they juggle alongside raising their children.
According to the source, Joe is feeling the pressure, particularly with the demands of filming. “Joe is under a lot of pressure. He’s a wonderful father and does so much. They’ve still got young children so it’s hard work, especially with most of them still demanding their parents’ attention,” the source told New Magazine.
The source also claims that Stacey’s other projects, including her popular BBC show Sort Your Life Out, which she has been filming across the country, have led to Joe taking on more responsibilities at home. Last week, the pair featured on Celebrity Gogglebox, causing a stir when Joe humorously suggested he wanted to “get away” from his partner.
“When the kids grow up, I’m going to the moon to get away from you. You’re off your head,” Joe quipped, leaving Stacey in fits of laughter. Despite their ability to laugh at their on-screen squabbles, an insider suggests it hasn’t been all smooth sailing behind the scenes, reports the Mirror.
“The pressure is starting to show. They thought they could be The Waltons version of The Kardashians, but it’s such hard work,” they revealed.
The source added, “There’s tension in the air and there is a bit of bickering. But it puts a strain on any relationship. You look at those on reality shows, such as the wives in The Real Housewives, with cameras in their houses 24/7, and a lot of their relationships crack under the pressure.”
Stacey, 35, and Joe, 43, frequently give fans a glimpse into their family life – the good, the bad and the humorous – on their social media platforms. The couple, who first met on I’m A Celebrity in 2010, started dating in 2016.
They tied the knot in 2022 in a stunning ceremony held at their Essex residence, affectionately known as Pickle Cottage by Stacey.
Life at home is understandably chaotic for the couple, who share three children – Rex, six, Rose, three, and Belle, two. Stacey is also mum to Zachary, 17, and Leighton, 12, while Joe has an 18 year old son Harry from his previous relationship with Emma Sophocleous.
They’ve been candid about the challenges of family life, with the first series of their TV show capturing several difficult moments between them. One episode revealed Stacey’s disappointment when Joe failed to arrive in time to look after the kids so she could attend a crucial meeting.
Her husband eventually turned up five hours late, much to Stacey’s visible distress.
“Joe was supposed to come to this meeting, but he’s been delayed indefinitely it seems,” Stacey shared with the camera. When Joe finally arrived, he apologised for being “20 minutes late” due to traffic, only for a frustrated Stacey to correct him that he was actually several hours late.
The show also saw Joe discussing his struggles with ADHD as he met with a psychiatrist to help him better understand his diagnosis. He confessed that he wasn’t “in the best place”.
“I would love to know what I can actually do to support him because I try my hardest but I think sometimes I probably escalate the situation because I get frustrated,” confessed Stacey after discussing Joe’s appointment. She continued, “I just want to be there to support Joe, whatever that means.”
