Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen was left fuming as she shared some “heartbreaking” news from the farm, and fans were quick to share their thoughts on the matter
Fans of Our Yorkshire Farm were left feeling gutted as Amanda Owen revealed some distressing news from the farm. The mother of nine took to Instagram on Sunday, posting a video that she confessed was out of the ordinary for her.
Accompanying the clip, Amanda expressed her frustration, writing: “Cross, cross, cross. This is not the normal kind of post I do. Not the kind of post that I want to do.”
She continued with a heartfelt message: “I know that it will not make any difference whatsoever, but still I hope that someone, somewhere might feel a little uncomfortable or even ashamed.
“These places are invaluable, a part of our history and heritage, they do not formally belong to anyone but have been used by for centuries by shepherds, farmers and commoners. They are still in use to this day.”
The beloved Our Yorkshire Farm personality didn’t hold back as she vented to her audience about what had sparked her ire, reports the Manchester Evening News.
In the footage, she stated: “This is not my kind of thing that I would normally be reckoning to put on social media. But this has incensed and angered me so enormously.
“It’s not about a gap in the wall that happens, and that can be fixed. I’m talking about this,” she said, pointing out the problem.
As she highlighted the damage, she elaborated: “You might ask yourself, ‘What has happened there?’ I’ll tell you what has happened there.
“Sometime in the last few days, likely under cover of darkness, someone has trespassed onto these pens on the border between Cumbria and Yorkshire, and they’ve intruded into these beautiful pens that have stood here for centuries.
“And they have dug up and taken the flags out of the floor. Can you imagine, this floor has stood the test of time. It has been here for hundreds of years.
“This isn’t a place that isn’t used. This is a place that has got history. Look. See the beautiful cobbles, see how this is maintained and looked after. This is a little building where the shepherds and farmers in our area actually bring our sheep, when we’ve gathered them in and actually work in them and put strays in here. “.
Amanda continued: “But at some point over the last couple of days, somebody has taken it upon themselves to desecrate it, whether they had a job for these flags or whether they just got them because they thought nobody was using this place.
“I think that absolutely stinks, it’s our heritage, it’s an ancient, ancient place, and I don’t see that there’s any need to do that kind of thing.”
Amanda’s supporters were devastated and furious, with countless people rushing to the comments to voice their outrage.
One declared: “People just don’t care anymore, they think they are entitled to do and take whatever they want. It really boils my blood!”.
Another shared: “Heartbreaking Amanda. Same thing happened to my husband at the shop we owned in Bradford. Low life thieves came during the night and stripped the back yard of the Yorkshire stone flags, they fetch a good price so that’s why they do it.”
A third fumed: “Disgusting! This is the sign of the times here in the UK! total breakdown of law and order!” Another person exclaimed: “That is just horrific! I will never understand how people could do something like that!”.
“That’s sad and disgusting in equal measure,” another concurred.
