Pop sensation Katy Perry has been spotted on a reported “dinner date” with Justin Trudeau while touring Canada.
The Fireworks singer, 40, was allegedly seen at a restaurant with the former Canadian Prime Minister earlier this week, sparking whispers of a possible new romance. Katy’s date with Justin, 58, comes shortly after her split from actor Orlando Bloom, 48, announced earlier this month. Trudeu has also experienced a high-profile separation in recent years, having parted ways with his wife Sophie, 50, in 2023.
The rumored dinner date is said to have taken place on July 28, during Katy’s Lifetimes Tour, which rolled into Canada last week. With shows in Ottawa and Montreal lined up for July 29 and 30, respectively, the singer-songwriter seemed to have carved out some quality time with Justin.
According to TMZ, footage shows the pair enjoying a meal at Le Violon in Montreal, where they indulged in cocktails and shared several dishes, including a delectable lobster-filled option. At one point, they were greeted by the chef and even ventured into the kitchen to express their gratitude to the staff.
However, co-executive chef Danny Smiles revealed to TMZ that while the atmosphere was convivial, there were no overt displays of affection, leaving him without “dating vibes”,
Additional photos have emerged of Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau together in Montreal, sparking further speculation about their relationship. According to TMZ, the images show the pair walking through the city together, looking like a “couple”, just an hour and a half before they were spotted dining together.
The sighting comes after Katy Perry and her ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom announced their split earlier this month. The couple, who share a daughter, had been experiencing a “rough patch” and were reportedly planning “make or break talks” before deciding to go their separate ways, reports the Express.
In a joint statement, their representatives confirmed that Katy and Orlando would be shifting their focus to co-parenting, saying: “Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting.”
The statement continued: “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
Meanwhile, Justin Trudeau announced his separation from his wife Sophie in August 2023, stating that they would remain a “close family” despite their split.
He announced: “Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate.”
Justin also expressed that they would maintain “deep love and respect” for one another.
Justin ended by saying: “As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and we will continue to build. For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy.”
