Ozzy Osbourne’s family, friends and fans will be able to pay respect today as his funeral procession moves through Birmingham. The Black Sabbath icon died last week at the age of 76, just weeks after he performed with the band for the final time. Wife Sharon confirmed the sad news with a statement from the family.

After Ozzy’s death, Elton John was among the famous faces who shared tributes. He called him “one of the funniest people” he had ever met.

It’s expected that Sir Elton, 78, will be among the celebrities at Ozzy’s private funeral, which is set to take place at a church in Buckinghamshire.

According to The Sun, rising star Yungblud, who was pictured with Ozzy days before his death, will give a reading at the service.

The publication adds that Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler will be in attendance, as will Metallica star James Hetfield.

Meanwhile, Sharon and four of Ozzy’s kids – Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis – will travel behind the hearse in cars.

They went on: “Sharon and his family have been so touched by messages they received not only from Ozzy’s friends, but also his fans around the world.”

The streets of Birmingham are set to be crowded, with thousands paying their respects to the Prince of Darkness.

For those unable to be there in person, a live stream is being made available.

“Having recently been awarded the Freedom of the City and following his celebrated appearance at the Back To The Beginning concert at Villa Park earlier this month, it was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute.

“We’re proud to host it here with his loving family, and we are grateful they have generously offered to pay to enable this to happen.”
