Oasis duo Liam and Noel Gallagher are brilliant comedians, according to Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne. The actor has met them several times. And he reckons – away from their image as feuding brothers – they are actually a real laugh.
Mathew is going to appear in a theatre comedy next year called The Battle which is all about the 1990s chart rivalry between Oasis and Blur.
The star, who will play Blur’s manager Andy Ross in the show, revealed: “I have met Liam several times and I have met Noel a couple of times.
“Now the difficulty for me is that this play is a comedy and I think the writer is brilliant but I don’t think anybody can be as funny as Liam Gallagher because he is so, so funny. The last time I saw him he was ever so funny.
“And the longest lasting funny memory I have of Noel Gallagher, I was in a shop in London and I was trying on a coat and I saw him and he was shopping as well.
“So I said to him ‘Hey Noel? What do you think of the coat?’ and he went ‘You look like f****** dog s***!’.”
Mat – best known as Gavin Shipman in the BBC sitcom – is a huge Oasis fan and was due to see them at Wembley on Saturday.
He said: “I am so excited.”
