Jeremy Clarkson announces major farm update after tragic death on Diddly Squat

Clarkson’s Farm star Jeremy Clarkson has issued a major update just one day after he confirmed all the cows on Diddly Squat Farm have been struck down with TB

Jeremy Clarkson made a significant announcement on social media, just a day after sharing an emotional statement about a death on his farm.

The Clarkson’s Farm star revealed that the Diddly Squat Farm Shop is now open, despite the farm itself being forced to close. The shop’s official Instagram account posted photos of recent visits, along with the caption: “Diddly Squat Farm Shop is OPEN! We’re open Tuesday-Sunday 09:30-16:30. Hope to see you soon!”

However, this news came after Jeremy announced that the farm would be closed for two months due to a devastating Tuberculosis (TB) outbreak. On X, he shared: “Bad news from Diddly Squat. We’ve gone down with TB. Everyone here is absolutely devastated.” The news comes as Morrison’s revealed a full list of shop closures across the country, leaving desperate shoppers scrambling to see if theirs was affected.

Clarifying the situation, Jeremy added: “I should clear this up, really. It’s Bovine TB that we have. It doesn’t affect people, just our poor cows.”

In a Time Radio interview, he confirmed the farm’s closure, saying: “It’s awful, it is awful. You have a test every six months on the cows, and then you sort of become blasé. It’s a hypothetical threat.”

The presenter admitted that the news has been occupying his mind, stating: “It’s only been not even 24 hours since I found out, and it occupies my mind.”, reports the Express.

Jeremy revealed the devastating news, saying: “Well, it was occupying my mind, but I got up this morning and found one of my puppies has died. And we’ve got a very sickly calf. Honestly, farming? I’m not enjoying it this week.”

He added that the Diddly Squat Farm Shop remains unaffected, as the TB outbreak is limited to the cows on the farm.

This is not Jeremy’s first encounter with TB, as his farm manager, Charlie Ireland, warned him about the risks in 2023. When Jeremy shared his plans to start a beef empire with “cheerful Charlie”, the 65 year old was informed about the TB risks and initially responded: “Kill the badgers.”

However, after being told that badgers are a protected species and cannot be killed, Jeremy opted for a surveillance project instead.

In June, the Government announced that it would not extend the badger cull and reiterated its commitment to ending the practice before the next election.

As Oxfordshire is an “edge area” for bovine TB, serving as a buffer zone between high-risk and low-risk areas, most herds are required to undergo six-monthly TB tests by default.
