Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76 in July, with his cause of death being confirmed this week after his death certificate was released
The death certificate of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osborne, who passed away at 76, features the classiest of touches, immortalising the Black Sabbath frontman as a “rock legend”. The document, images of which have been revealed to the public, included the fitting tribute in the occupation section alongside the words “songwriter” and “performer”.
Fans of the No More Tears singer were keen to show their approval of the nod to Ozzy’s legendary status, with one user on X writing: “Ha! Only Ozzy could pull that off.”
The document also listed “acute myocardial infarction” and “out of hospital cardiac arrest” as the primary causes of death, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction as contributing factors.
Ozzy had battled Parkinson’s since 2020, bravely sharing his struggles with fans.
Just weeks before his death, Ozzy gave his “final encore” at Villa Park in his hometown of Birmingham, a performance that he described as having “meant everything”.
Seated on a black bat throne, he performed a quintet of his hits including Mama, I’m Coming Home and Crazy Train.
After a break, he rejoined Black Sabbath’s original line-up for the first time in 20 years, performing hits like Paranoid. The Back To The Beginning event featured rock giants like Metallica’s James Hetfield and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor, with profits going to charity.
Ozzy’s health had deteriorated, but he vowed to make this his final show. “I knew it was my last, and I gave it everything,” he reportedly said.
In a poignant moment, his daughter Kelly Osbourne got engaged to Sid Wilson at the concert. Last Thursday, an “incredibly emotional” funeral at Ozzy and Sharon’s 250-acre estate drew 110 loved ones, including Black Sabbath bandmates, Yungblud, and Sir Elton John.
Marilyn Manson and Zakk Wylde also paid respects. The home, bought in 1993, was adorned with Ozzy’s photos, and mourners received one to keep. “It was a beautiful send-off,” a family friend said.
Thousands of Birmingham fans lined the streets the day before to honour the rocker who helped define heavy metal. Sharon, joined by children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis, led tributes.
