The Walking Dead actress Kelley Mack has tragically passed away aged 33 following her battle with a rare cancer diagnosis. The star’s death was confirmed through a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram account. She playerd Addy in the hit zombie series,
The touching tribute read: “It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.”
It continued: “Kelley passed peacefully on Saturday evening with her loving mother Kristen and steadfast aunt Karen present. Kelley has already come to many of her loved ones in the form of various butterflies. She will be missed by so many to depths that words cannot express.”
The actress had previously revealed her rare cancer diagnosis back in September, subsequently undergoing intensive treatment in her fight against the disease, reports the Mirror.
Mack brought Addy to life across five episodes of The Walking Dead during 2018, whilst also securing roles in 9-1-1, Chicago Med and the television film Mr. Manhattan.
The talented performer also featured in the 2021 horror flick Broadcast Signal Intrusion, sharing screen time with Glee’s Harry Shum Jr and This Is Us actor Chris Sullivan.
Her sibling is actor Parker Mack, recognised for his performances in Ouija: Origin of Evil, Faking It and Divergent. Kelley had recently featured in the film Universal, sharing the screen with The Inbetweeners’ star Joe Thomas and Buffering’s Rosa Robson.
Earlier this year, Kelley was on the road to recovery from cancer treatment, sharing in March that she had completed proton radiation therapy and was undergoing physiotherapy.
“Overall, this journey has not been easy, but things are getting better – improvements are tough to see when you’re in the thick of it. Thank you again and again for the support and prayers,” she penned on Instagram at the time.
Fans have flocked to social media to pay their respects to Kelley, with one posting: “How terribly sad. Thoughts go out to her loved ones.”
Another tweeted: “Oh no. Loved her in Broadcast Signal intrusion. Rest in Peace Kelley.”
A third shared: “Kelley Mack, who played Addy on The Walking Dead Passed Away. This is so sad and so young.”
