Donald Trump was not a happy bunny when those cheeky South Park lads took the mickey out of his manhood. But it’s not the first time they’ve scorched a star to within an inch of their life…
Donald Trump had plenty to pout about in the wake of his blistering South Park takedown. The US president was shown cavorting naked in the desert with his “teeny-tiny” trouser snake out on display.
And creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone aren’t finished with the Orange Manbaby yet. A new episode of their controversial cartoon, first aired in 1997, will feature the latest in his red-hot romance with Satan himself.
Now we take a look at the show’s most shocking celebrity roasts…
Russell Crowe (2002)
The Kiwi actor and director appears as the host of children’s show Fightin’ Round The World, which features him randomly beating people up. It was inspired by a string of public scraps Russell had in 1999 and 2002.
The Gladiator star is portrayed as a musclebound sailor with a strong Aussie accent, who travels on a talking tugboat called Tugger. The vessel is driven to try and kill itself when Russell serenades it with an acoustic guitar.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck (2003)
The first time Bennifer got together, this truly bizarre episode was born. Racist character Eric Cartman creates a ‘Jennifer Lopez’ hand puppet, based on a stereotype of a Latino woman, which is then hired by her record company to replace her.
When she heads to South Park to confront Cartman, her then-fiancé Ben falls in love with the same hand puppet. To make matters worse, the episode is called Fat B*** and Pancake Head.
Mel Gibson (2004)
After seeing Gibson’s film The Passion of the Christ – which was slammed for alleged antisemitism – Stan Marsh and Kyle Broflovski head to his Malibu home to demand a refund. He refuses and straps himself to a rack, saying they’ll never get their money back regardless of how much they torture him.
The boys nick $18 from his wallet and jump on a bus, but Mel dons his Braveheart face paint and chases them down in a Mad Max-style tanker truck.
Tom Cruise (2005)
South Park went full pelt for Tom Cruise and the Church of Scientology in what still ranks as one of the show’s most controversial episodes. It features the actor refusing to “come out of the closet” – a reference to rumours about his sexuality, which have since faded away. But the real kicker was the fact it mocked Scientologist beliefs.
Church member Isaac Hayes, who played Chef, is said to have quit the series over the episode, while a repeat was pulled by network Comedy Central in 2006.
Al Gore (2006, 2018)
The show went for former US Vice President Al Gore in a 2006 episode still popular with climate change deniers. It shows the environmentalist campaigning against a fictional monster called ManBearPig, described as “half man, half bear, half pig,” which he claims has been attacking humans.
But Stone and Parker backtracked with a pair of episodes in 2018, in which the boys realise ManBearPig really does exist and apologise to Gore.
Bono (2007)
No-one said the South Park boys weren’t childish. And in this episode, they’re downright disgusting. It features Randy Marsh trying desperately to break the world record for the biggest poo ever taken. But he can’t, because the previous winning stool has come to life… and is now known as U2 vocalist Bono.
Kanye West (2009)
Once upon a time, the worst South Park could think of to say about Kanye West was that he might not have much of a sense of humour. The episode focuses on the rapper’s struggle to understand a joke about “fishsticks” and ends with him coming out as a “gay fish”.
After watching it, West wrote on his blog: “South Park murdered me last night and it’s pretty damn funny. It hurts my feelings but what can you expect.”
Tiger Woods (2010)
In the wake of Tiger’s split from wife Elin Nordegren following a string of affairs, South Park is gripped by a sex addiction epidemic. The sufferers are all loaded male celebrities, including the golf champ.
But when Kenny McCormick dies by autoerotic asphyxiation, Kyle and Butters Stotch start trying to hunt down the cause. They eventually ‘cure’ Tiger by shooting a man said to be the “wizard alien” responsible.
Mark Zuckerberg (2017)
The Facebook tycoon is invited to South Park by a group of parents worried about fake news stories on the platform. But when they confront him, he ignores their concerns and instead pretends to “block” them. He then starts showing up uninvited in people’s homes and cars, using their stuff and stealing food from their plates.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (2023)
The royal twosome descend on South Park, Colorado, as part of a “Worldwide Privacy Tour” to promote Harry’s memoir. They end up moving into a house across the road from Kyle Broflovski, where they keep him awake with noisy activities like playing the drums. When he complains, they accuse him of violating their privacy.
The couple were said to be “annoyed” by the parody, but a spokesperson denied they were planning to sue.
