Eamonn Holmes has shared a touching tribute to his beloved Maggie, who he shares with ex-wife Ruth Langsford, after the pair were reportedly in a ‘custody battle’ over the pooch
Television presenter Eamonn Holmes has posted a heartfelt tribute to his cherished Border Collie, Maggie, amid reports of a custody dispute with former wife Ruth Langsford following their divorce.
The 65 year old shared two photographs of himself alongside his treasured pet, writing: “17 years apart …… and we are both still going – JUST”. Ex-wife Ruth, a familiar face on Loose Women, also frequently posts images with Maggie, though their formal custody arrangement remains unclear.
The TV duo, who were married for over a decade and together for nearly three decades, officially separated in May 2024 after adopting their beloved dog in 2011.
A source previously revealed the depth of their attachment to their four-legged companion, describing her as being like a child to the former couple.
Speaking to The Sun, an insider explained: “Maggie is like a daughter to them. They dote on her. But she’s getting on and they know she needs stability. It’s a case of who can give [Maggie stability]. Eamonn adores her and Maggie’s been such a support during his health woes. The thought of giving her up is heartbreaking to him.”
The source continued: “But if Ruth is able to get out and about and walk her more, then it may well be that she gets Maggie in the split.”
Numerous followers responded to Eamonn’s recent post, enquiring about the arrangement concerning Maggie whilst also gushing over the adorable dog, reports the Mirror.
One follower enquired: “Does Ruth let you see Maggie?”, whilst another wrote: “Wish you could you be together”. A third remarked: “She’s a beauty.”, whilst someone else added: “www gorgeous pair”.
Eamonn’s Instagram update follows his apparent swipe at ex-wife Ruth, after he allegedly described girlfriend Katie Alexander, 43, as his “soulmate”.
Eamonn and Katie appear utterly besotted in recent photographs, having attended GB News presenter Nana Akua’s engagement celebration earlier this month.
According to Bella magazine, the father-of-four reportedly declared Katie his “soulmate” at the swanky London event whilst allegedly adding: “In sickness you find out who is there for you.”
Addressing the supposed barb, an insider revealed: “It was an insensitive comment from Eamonn, but he’s smitten with Katie and does feel like she has been there for him through the hard times. That said, it is a kick in the teeth for Ruth because she has been there for him since the beginning.”
