Former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has been with TOWIE alum Lucy Mecklenburgh have opened up on their living situation and why they don’t share the same bed
Lovebirds Lucy Mecklenburgh and Ryan Thomas don’t sleep in the same bed.
The pair got engaged in 2019 and are proud parents to their two children, son Roman (five) and daughter Lila (three). However, they’ve revealed that they now sleep in separate bedrooms after eight years together.
TOWIE alum Lucy made the confession during an appearance on her fiancé’s At Home With The Thomas Brothers podcast, which he hosts with Adam and Scott. She revealed she keeps her distance from the Corrie star when the lights go out because she can’t get a good night’s sleep when they’re in the same bed.
She said: “Basically we sleep in separate bedrooms because Ryan is a nightmare sleeper.” Ryan’s brother Adam joked: “He’s always trying it on with me,” and Scott said: “He always wants a cuddle.”
The group burst out laughing, with Lucy teasing: “I mean that is annoying…” She continued: “Basically Ryan snores, he sleep talks, he whacks me in his sleep.”
Ryan joked: “I weren’t asleep darling,” sending the room into stitches. Lucy added: “Just to get a good night sleep and that’s just become normal now,” adding: “I’ve spoken to other people and it’s pretty normal in their house [too]”.
However, Adam admitted that he “couldn’t imagine” bot sharing a bed with wife Caroline. He said: “I couldn’t imagine not sleeping in the same bed as Caz. Like, I go to bed holding her hand sometimes.”
Lucy was also asked about her wedding plans, having been engaged to Ryan since 2019. She they “do talk about” getting married but that plans got “pushed aside” once she realised that she was pregnant with their first child, Roman.
She explained, said: “Now we’ve got kids, it’s valuing that money for other things more than a day. […] I would love it but then, I don’t know, I find it quite hard.” She also admitted: “Well fell pregnant the night we got engaged. I was planning the wedding from then.”
Lucy said she looked at venues and dresses for the big day shortly after getting engaged to Ryan back in 2019, but this only lasted a few days as she had to halt the wedding plans once she was pregnant. She shared that she had suspected she was pregnant on the flight home from Italy, where he popped the question, after feeling nauseous.
She said: “That was it. So then my dream… planning my wedding lasted 10 days and then I knew that once I had a child it wouldn’t mean as much as I was really upset about it. I kind of just knew that everything would revolve around the kids after that and that’s kind of what happened.”
