Taylor Swift’s appearance on New Heights packed such enormous star power that it literally crashed the system, with YouTube’s servers buckling under the pressure on Wednesday night.

Just one hour and 44 minutes into the live premiere, the stream abruptly died for millions of viewers on YouTube. More than one million people had tuned in within a mere eight minutes to discover details about Taylor and Travis’ romance, how it all began, the NFL connection, and much more.

The official New Heights account swiftly took to X to clarify the situation, simply writing: “We hit a glitch but will be back shortly.”

A subsequent message embraced the mayhem, declaring: “Shoutout all the 92%ers and Swifties for actually helping us break the internet.”

When New Heights attempted to move beyond its Swift-triggered meltdown with a follow-up post asking supporters for their favourite moment from the episode, the responses were flooded with Swifties who couldn’t resist having a laugh.

One user replied: “When it comes back,” whilst another quipped: “When you add the entire episode.”

A third Swiftie chimed in with: “The part where it comes back,” and one devotee of the pop sensation added: “I have no idea. It blacked out. I need to watch it 13 more times to decide.”

For those who missed the live broadcast, the complete episode became accessible in its full duration: two hours and three minutes on Spotify, two hours and four minutes on Apple Podcasts, and two hours and three minutes via Wondery (adverts included).

Supporters in the comments section wore the technical failure like a medal of honour. Two-time WNBA All-Star and devoted Swiftie Caitlin Clark had expressed concerns about a potential system failure from the outset, reports the Mirror US.

Prior to the premiere, she publicly questioned whether YouTube possessed the capacity to cope with the enormous influx of fans expected to tune into the broadcast. She was amongst thousands of supporters counting down to the episode, which ultimately attracted millions of viewers.

The stream nearly made it to the end before technical difficulties struck.

The eleventh-hour glitch interrupted a discussion about Bad Bunny’s comic turn in Happy Gilmore 2 (a project that also stars Kelce), her analysis of the Eras Tour entrance design, her “welcome to the NFL” and music industry experiences, and an amusing waxing anecdote that left the Kelce brothers in stitches.

Prior to the broadcast cutting out, the pair explored subjects including Swift’s initial unfamiliarity with NFL matters before romancing the Chiefs star, his unwavering and unconventional methods of winning her affections, and the tale of how the 14-time Grammy champion regained control of her record masters.

Swift’s New Heights guest spot was broadcast two days ahead of the Chiefs’ second pre-season fixture against the Seattle Seahawks on Friday. Kansas City kicked off its pre-season campaign with a 20-17 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals last Saturday.
