Actress Elizabeth Berkley shot to fame as a teen in the nineties playing Jessie Spano in the High School comedy, Saved by The Bell, but three decades later she’s all grown up
Saved By the Bell star Elizabeth Berkley has barely aged a day three decades on from the hit teen sitcom.
The actress shot to fame as Bayside High student Jessie Spano in the teen comedy, which premiered on NBC in 1989 and ran until 1993. It would go on to spawn numerous spin-off series, with Berkley even reprising her iconic role in Peacock’s reboot in 2020.
And the 53-year-old has barely aged a day, over three decades after leaving the series in 1993. Back then, when she played the straight-A student, she was sporting her signature curls – often styled with scrunchies or headbands.
The look was a classic during the nineties era, but these days the star has opted for stunning blonde locks which tumble over her shoulders in loose wavy tresses. But although she’s got a different style to Jessie, Elizabeth is still sporting her character’s youthful glow.
The actress keeps her fans updated with regular snaps on her Instagram. And it’s safe to say the actress leaves them swooning in the comments over her ageless beauty.
Elizabeth has said starring in the Saved By the Bell reboot with her former castmates was like “coming home”. She told People: “To be on those same sets with those faces I know and love so well feels like coming home.”
The star said of the sitcom’s legacy: “Saved by the Bell holds a special place in people’s hearts. It’s part of their childhoods, and that is sacred. We are all fiercely protective of that legacy.”
Berkley joined the likes of Mario Lopez and Mark-Paul Harry Gosselaar, who she dated, in the reboot. The series was cancelled after two seasons.
After Saved By the Bell, Berkley went on to appear in the controversial movie Showgirls, where she famously bares all on screen. The erotic thriller movie how now become a cult classic years later.
Berkley once admitted – perhaps jokingly – that it was her Saved By the Bell wardrobe the drove her to Showgirls. At a panel at 90s Con 2025, she said: “I was so happy I had six other days of the week to not have to wear Jessie clothes.”
“I didn’t want to wear, as an adolescent girl, Z. Cavaricci jeans. I’m a dancer, so for me, I was like, ‘Don’t put me in weird balloon-y pants with like a weird print shirt.'”
She said: “It was neutering me. I had to break out”. Laughing, she quipped: “No wonder I did Showgirls. No wonder. Like, get these clothes off of me.”
