Michael Jackson’s bodyguard made to use real AK47s in ‘heavy’ new film role

EXCLUSIVE: Michael Jackson’s former bodyguard has since given up the profession for a career in acting and has recently landed two very exciting film roles

Simon previously worked as a celebrity bodyguard but has since turned to acting

Michael Jackson’s former bodyguard is starring in some huge upcoming films. Simon Newton, who has previously worked as a bodyguard for the King of Pop as well as Bella Hadid and other famous faces, has taken a career U-turn and is focussing on acting.

He owns a private security company and has previously starred in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Final Score. Simon spoke exclusively to Daily Star about his exciting upcoming projects and where fans can catch him next.

Newton revealed: “[I’ll be starring in] Rise of the Foot Solider, which is a continuation from number six. This one has some extra twists and turns from arms dealing to being hunted by the CIA. This film is set to be the best in the franchise.” He also told us that his character is a “defeated Bosnian soldier turned mercenary called Maxim”.

Newton has been flying across Europe to film for his new acting projects

Simon also touched upon his other project: “Bedlam is set in the 1750s and follows a bareknuckle boxer who discovers that his sister has been trapped in the notorious mental asylum. He goes to rescue her and together they fight their way to freedom,” later explaining that his character’s name is “to be confirmed”.

The actor has been flying between Ibiza, the UK and Romania to work on both projects and hinted that he’s got some seriously action-packed on-screen stunts.

Simon confessed: “Rise of the Foot Solider is firearms heavy for me, throughout the whole movie I carry an AK47 so the use of firearms was key when filming this movie.” He will also be doing “lots of street-fighting” and “fight choreography” while filming scenes for Bedlam.

To prepare he has “finished fight school and completed the BASSC for Film Fighting with distinction”. On Bedlam’s set Simon will be working alongside Scott Adkins, known for his roles in John Wick and Dead Reckoning, and Rise of the Footsoldier’s lead actor is Craig Fairbrass, who has starred in A Violent Man and Villain.
