Inside Katie Price’s ‘cursed’ Mucky Mansion after she warned new owners of ‘bad luck’

Katie Price is known for her former glamour modelling career as much as her so-called Mucky Mansion these days, and it’s clear it caused her plenty of stress over the years

Katie Price will be trying to move past her old Mucky Mansion – but it’s clearly had a lasting affect on her family. The former glamour model was evicted from the West Sussex home after being unable to make her mortgage repayments. However for a time, she was known for the dishevelled home as much as, if not more than, her modelling career.

She first bought the nine-bedroom home for £2million in 2014. It would eventually go on to become the focus of a Channel 4 show, in which she tried to renovate it.

But Katie had to sell it in December last year, fetching £1.5m, due to her financial issues. None of the money went to Katie, with it instead being used against debts she’d racked up.

So, is it cursed as Katie reckons, or does she just have bad luck?

Mucky Mansion ‘curse’

Katie has previously said that she believes the house was the root of many of her issues in life.

She had a number of break-ins and tragedies involving the deaths of many of her pets. The reality star even said she’d seen ghosts there.

In fact, the feeling is so real for Katie that she has issued a warning to whoever moves in.

She told Daily Mail last year: “I hate that house. Whoever buys it, I warn them, they will get bad luck there.

“It is absolutely cursed. My anxiety got worse with that house. There was a point when I couldn’t even walk up the driveway without having a panic attack.”

Katie said leaving, which she insists was her choice, was the “best thing [she’s] ever done”.

Haunted by ghosts

Katie said on The Louis Theroux Podcast that she felt a weird feeling whenever she got in the house.

She said: “As soon as I get there, it’s like noise, like get me out of this place… I just can’t bear being in that house.

“It’s haunted for one, genuinely is haunted, and you know when you walk in a place and it just feels heavy on you. I think that house is cursed.”

Katie had previously spoke of the house being haunted by the spirit of a small child.

She shared pictures she believed showed ghostly apparitions in the home – a “boy ghost” she said lived in the Mucky Mansion.

It was so scary that her son Jett wouldn’t sleep in his bedroom as the “ghost attaches to him” whenever he stepped foot in it.

Break-in attempts

The Mucky Mansion was targeted a number of times, and last year, before she moved out, Katie shared images of men she believed were planning to break in.

It came just days after she called the police over another group of strangers who were spotted outside her home.

Sussex Police confirmed at the time they had received a report of “suspicious behaviour involving a possible break-in” at around 9pm.

Two men were searched and given “words of advice” but were released as no items were discovered on them.

Another time, someone got onto the property and threw a corrosive substance on her iconic pink Range Rover, stripping some of the paint.

Pet deaths

Katie lost a number of pets during her time at the Mucky Mansion, including five dogs, a horse and a chameleon. Many of the deaths saw the pet hit by cars.

She said it was just “bad luck”, ensuring people that she had installed better security around the property to stop the animals getting out.

However it saw people demand that Katie should not be allowed to own any more pets.

She told The Sun: “When people say I shouldn’t have animals, it’s circumstances that were out of my hands.

“It’s no lack of me not looking after them or anything like that. I love animals, I love nurturing.”

PETA even went as far as offering her £5,000 in exchange for signing a contract which would mean she could not get another pet.

‘Scary’ house

Katie’s daughter Princess, 18, spoke about the Mucky Mansion as she promoted her ITV series The Princess Diaries.

She told The Guardian about “bad experiences” she faced there, adding: “It was a really scary house. A lot went on there. So I didn’t really like it.”

Princess didn’t elaborate on any specifics, but it’s not difficult to see that Katie and her family did deal with a lot of issues there.
