Katie Price has been married three times, but says there was only one man she truly loved – and it’s not Peter Andre, Alex Reid or Kieran Hayler
Katie Price has confessed that the only man she ever truly loved was, rather awkwardly, none of her husbands. The mum-of-five, 47, has endured three unsuccessful marriages and a series of failed relationships, but there’s one man who, she reveals, shattered her heart completely.
Speaking candidly about her turbulent romantic history, the glamour model disclosed that Another Level star Dane Bowers, 45, was her one true love – until he left her devastated.
Katie and Dane were an item from 1998 to 2000 before their relationship crumbled, with Katie describing their split as the most painful she’d ever endured.
During her reality programme, simply called Katie, the TV personality revealed how the Freak Me vocalist left her “heartbroken badly”, explaining: “I’ve been hurt before. I’ve been heartbroken badly, when I split from Dane. He was the only guy who completely taught me about having your heart broken.”
She continued: “I’ve always said that Dane’s the one who did that. Because of Dane, he’s made me have my barriers up and even with Pete, I’d like to say they all went down but there were a couple up still.
“Since splitting with Dane I have never let my barriers 100% down with anyone. Being heartbroken, that hurt. It’s not a nice feeling.”
Katie, who wed Peter Andre, Alex Reid and Kieran Hayler, although after her reality show confession, initially met Dane at the Wild Wild West film premiere in 1999, where sparks flew immediately, reports the Mirror.
At that point, Dane had just gained recognition for his chart-topping collaboration Out of Your Mind with Victoria Beckham, which catapulted him to fame. Katie, just 18 at the time, had been building her career in the late ’90s as a topless model going by the name Jordan.
Her ascent to fame was meteoric, and before long she was appearing on the front pages of numerous lads’ mags. However, the pair’s romance was reportedly riddled with allegations of cheating and trust problems.
Dane was allegedly initially attracted to Katie’s glamour model persona, but her passion for being in the spotlight eventually became problematic. In her book, The Last Word, Katie’s mum Amy revealed that Katie wasn’t content in the relationship and that Dane became “jealous of her career”.
Despite appearing to be in a blissful romance, Katie once alleged that her partner had been unfaithful to her. He has refuted these accusations.
Speaking on the Katie Price Show, she revealed: “He cheated on me bad. Oh my God, so bad.”
She alleged he had supposedly been disloyal with a dancer in Ibiza, with video evidence of the woman discussing Katie. She continued: “So I was trying to get this video and I got it. When Dane came back, because we lived together, I said ‘Dane, just sit down, I’ve got something to show you’. I put it on and said, ‘So are you going to f****** explain that then?’
“And he said ‘Oh no’, you know, denied it. And I just knew. Because then he went out with Sarah Bosnich, when he did the song with Victoria Beckham. Suddenly I wasn’t allowed to go away with them because there ‘wasn’t enough room’. Then he ended up with Sarah Bosnich, who was Victoria’s friend. I’ve just been betrayed and lied to and everything.”
Following their split, Katie buried the hatchet with Dane and reconnected with the performer six years ago during a segment of her reality programme My Crazy Life.
She popped along to London nightspot Jakata to show her support for the singer’s group Boyz On Block after receiving an invitation from one of Dane’s mates, and was keen for a chat when she noticed him.
With a mischievous sparkle in her gaze, Katie cooed: “Come here Dane.”
Yet he informed her he was occupied, leaving Katie to moan: “Dane’s too busy for me again. It’s like another level with Dane. I’m just hanging on the side, he’s busy doing his thing.”
Nevertheless, The Pricey subsequently embraced him and remarked: “Oh Dane, how are you my darling? Do you know what’s weird? You look older but it’s still your eyes [look the same]. Isn’t that weird?”
She went on: “You was a really good singer and a really good dancer, why do you think I fell for you?
“When you was fat, you could dance. You was fat back in the day and I loved you when you were like that and you broke my heart.”
The reality personality then turned to one of Dane’s mates and declared: “I loved him so much. He was the love of my life.”
