The Beatles will release a new Anthology 4 box set on November 21 to mark the 30th anniversary of the first edition of the series, which was released in 1995
A fresh compilation of Anthology by The Beatles, featuring 13 previously unreleased tracks, is set to mark the 30th anniversary of the first edition of the series, which was released in 1995. The preceding three albums, brimming with rarities such as demos, outtakes and live performances, were launched alongside a book and documentary series titled The Beatles Anthology.
This will be remastered and streamed with an additional ninth episode on Disney+ from November 26. The new episode of the documentary series will offer unseen backstage footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr uniting between 1994 and 1995 to create the Anthology collections. John Lennon was shot dead in December 1980.
Anthology 4 is slated for release on November 21 in a new box set, accompanied by remastered versions of Anthology 1, 2 and 3, courtesy of Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George Martin.
This comprehensive 191-track set, which will be available on streaming platforms and in 12 vinyl LP and eight CD formats, will showcase unreleased demos, session recordings and other rare tracks. It will also feature new mixes of Free As A Bird and Real Love, the singles from Anthology 1 and 2.
The remixes of Free As A Bird and Real Love have been crafted by their original producer, Electric Light Orchestra frontman Jeff Lynne, using de-mixed John Lennon vocals. Additionally, a remastered version of the original Free As A Bird video is set to be released on Thursday.
The box set will feature the original liner notes for the first three anthologies, along with a fresh set of notes on Anthology 4 penned by Beatles author Kevin Howlett, and an introduction assembled from 1996 interviews conducted with The Beatles’ close friend and adviser Derek Taylor. A 25th anniversary edition of The Beatles Anthology book, initially launched in 2000, is also set to hit the shelves on October 14.
Established in 1960, The Beatles hold the title of the best-selling musical act of all time and are one of the most influential groups globally, boasting 18 UK number one singles and 15 UK number one albums.
