The stars of BBC series The Repair Shop have been left disappointed after the show was overlooked in this year’s National Television Awards for the first time in five years
The stars of The Repair Shop have been left devastated after the show was snubbed for this year’s National Television Awards.
The BBC series failed to get enough votes from the public to secure any nominations. It’s the first time it hasn’t been shortlisted for any gongs for five years.
The Repair Shop is usually up for the award for Daytime, and in 2023, it won the prize in a historic victory over ITV’s This Morning.
But this year it hasn’t proved popular enough.
Instead, the shows in the running are This Morning, Loose Women, James Martin’s Saturday Kitchen and Scam Interceptors.
The snub has upset the show’s stars and production crew.
An insider told the Daily Star Sunday: “For years The Repair Shop has been the toast of the TV world. But now it’s losing popularity and being forgotten.”
It comes after the show was plunged into crisis when its host Jay Blades was hit by a series of allegations. In recent weeks he was charged with two counts of rape.
He appeared via video link at Telford Magistrates’ Court on August 13, speaking only to confirm his name, address and date of birth. He also thanked the judge at the end of the short six-minute hearing
Blades was granted conditional bail to appear at Shrewsbury Crown Court on September 10.
The insider added: “Everything that has happened has been very bad for the show.”
The awards will be held at The O2 in London on September 10.
