Love Island stars Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes came second place in the 2025 series and the reality star has explained why the pair are taking things slow
Love Island stars Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes are taking things slow for a very sad reason.
The ITV2 icon was left devastated upon leaving the programme after discovering her cherished cat Miaow Miaow had died whilst she was away filming.
The reality star has been mourning her family’s loss and Jamie is offering her emotional comfort during this difficult period. In a recent interview, Yasmin said there has been ‘no rush’ in developing their relationship, reports the Mirror.
She told The Sun: “I’ve been going through grief and Jamie will just sit there when I cry on him. I’ve taken a lot of time to process my emotions so Jamie and I haven’t been intimate yet.”
“He’s so patient. He’s never rushed that, because he knows it will happen at the right time.”
Earlier this month she posted a tribute to her beloved pet as she informed fans of the sad news.
Yasmin wrote: “As I’ve spoken about her on the show, I’m sure a lot of you will know I have a cat called miaow miaow who’s been by my side for 11 years now. When I was filming Love Island I had a bad gut feeling something was off and when my mum and sister came into the villa I asked them and still felt like something was off.”
“Rightfully they didn’t tell me because I was still in the villa but after the final I called my sister and she told me that miaow miaow had cancer and died whilst I was away filming Love Island. I’m trying to be as active as I can on socials, but am taking time for myself to process this heartbreak., RIP to my beautiful baby girl, you were so loved and will always be in my soul.”
Meanwhile, finalists Shakira and Toni have spoken out against Love Island bosses for the way they were edited on the show. In an interview with The Sun’s Fabulous magazine Shakira said: “Yeah, they’d never show the other side of things, which was frustrating.”
“We constantly felt like villains. Every chance they got they tried to kill us off,” as Toni joined in the criticism: “During the first public vote Shakira and I were both in the bottom. We spent weeks thinking that it was us against the world because that’s how everyone in there made us feel.”
