Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan shot to fame on Jeremy Clarkson’s Prime Video hit and has now revealed she’s making agriculture her sole career
Clarkson’s Farm favourite Harriet Cowan has stepped away from nursing now that her career has taken off.
The 24-year-old shot to fame on the latest series of Clarkson’s Farm, when Jeremy Clarkson brought her in to help run Diddly Squat. She temporarily replaced Kaleb Cooper on the show before he returned to the Cotswolds farm.
For the past few years the star who appeared in season four of the show has been juggling two jobs. Harriet was working long hours as a nurse alongside tending to the land and animals at her family’s farm.
However, she has now revealed she is currently “no longer nursing” as she’s caught the farming “bug”. The star from Belper, Derbyshire, said she’s always had the farming bug but before had no other “income” to support her.
But now, with her rise to fame on Clarkson’s Farm Harriet has been able to focus on farming full-time. She has also confirmed that she will be using her time to start a career on YouTube with her channel, Harriet On The Farm.
According to What’s The Jam, the first vlog is set to go live on Sunday (August 31). Her main focus may be farming, but Harriet has said she’ll still be working some shifts in the NHS – just not “daily”.
She said: “The cat’s somewhat out of the bag. It’s true, I am no longer nursing because it appears I got the bug. You definitely know what the bug is right, yeah I got the farming bug. And I’ve always had it but before, you know, I didn’t really have any other income.
“The waits over, Harriet on the farm is coming your way on the 31st of August. I’m going to do bank shifts and I’m still going to be working in the NHS, but yeah just not daily.”
It comes after Harriet admitted she makes virtually no money from farming alone. She told the BBC: “We cannot reiterate how important this is for us, that we don’t do this because it’s going to make us money. Because probably 90% of farms do not make money from the farm, I know I don’t.”
However, Harriet has been tipped to tipped to rake in hundreds of thousands following her fame on Clarkson’s Farm. She has just set up a private company called Farmfluence and has millions of followers on social media.
PR expert Lynn Carratt told The Sun: “Harriet has around 1.2 million followers across Instagram and TikTok. If she is savvy she could rake in £500,000 in the next 12 months.”
Harriet has also landed herself a gig at BBC Radio Derbyshire, where she has been working on FarmWatch. She recently took to the airwaves to talk about Farm24, an annual event celebrating farmers across the UK.
The digital event is designed to showcase how much work goes into being a farmer over a 24 hour period, with farmers encouraged to share their farming experiences from 5am until 5am the following day.
