The former family residence of the much-loved broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan has been put up for sale following the passing of his wife, Lady Helen, in September 2024. Surprisingly, the expansive mansion hasn’t had a single viewing since it was listed.

Sir Terry and Lady Helen, who purchased the seven-bedroom Edwardian property in 1975, raised their children there during Terry’s lengthy stint on BBC Radio 2’s Wake Up to Wogan, which aired from 1993 to 2009.

Now on the market for £3.75million, the 6,500-square-foot home in Taplow, Buckinghamshire, boasts five reception rooms, a utility room, a pantry, ensuite bedrooms, and stunning views of Windsor Castle. The beautifully landscaped gardens also feature a tennis court and a swimming pool, while speedy rail links make Paddington Station just a half-hour journey away.

Reflecting on the house and its cherished memories, Terry’s son Mark, 51, said: “We’re a close family, so the kitchen was central to everything. Mum was a fantastic cook. Eating and talking around a table was a big part of growing up in the house.”

He continued: “We’d also have some lovely long lunches on the terrace in the summer overlooking mum’s beloved garden. It’s a thing of beauty. We’ll miss the house very much. But it’ll make someone a great place to raise a family.”

Despite the impressive property being up for grabs, it has been reported that Wogan’s mansion hasn’t had a single viewer since it was listed – much to the disappointment of his son Mark and his siblings, reports the Mirror.

Mark, the youngest son of the late Sir Terry Wogan, has pointed the finger at Chancellor Rachel Reeves and her tax plans for “killing off the housing market.”

During a candid chat on Plank of the Week with Mike Graham on TalkTV, Mark opened up about the family’s struggle to sell their childhood home following his mother’s passing in 2024. “It’s interesting how you say Rachel Reeves is killing off the housing market. She’s killed it already,” he claimed.

He revealed that there’s been no interest in the iconic property, saying: “You’d think someone would come round, even just out of interest, thinking, ‘Oh, I’d quite like to go round and see Terry Wogan’s house.'”

However, he lamented: “But no one’s come to see it. No one, not one single person. That’s how dead the economy is.” Calling the property ‘a steal,’ he added: “I’ll show you around.”

The beloved Children In Need host passed away from cancer at 77 in January 2016.

Eight years later, his wife Helen also died, leaving behind an estate valued at £5million. Her will included £100,000 trusts for each of her five grandchildren, accessible when they turn 25.

The remainder of her wealth and belongings were divided among their three surviving children. The couple faced tragedy early in their marriage, losing their first child, Vanessa, to a heart condition shortly after her birth in 1966.
