Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson have seemingly ended their relationship, but fans are feeling ‘betrayed’ as it has been revealed they were never actually together
Liam Neeson’s fans are feeling “betrayed” and baffled, as the truth behind his rumoured romance with Naked Gun co-star Pamela Anderson has been revealed.
The Hollywood pair have been the talk of the town for weeks whilst publicising their upcoming film, but their blossoming connection appears to be “over”.
However, there never was a romance to begin with.
According to an exclusive report from Rob Shuter’s Substack, Anderson and Neeson have called it quits – despite never actually being an item in the first place. The duo’s flirty red carpet appearances, which many took as evidence of a budding romance, were actually part of a carefully orchestrated publicity campaign for Naked Gun.
Sources close to the production revealed to Shuter that Anderson and Neeson’s “romance” was entirely fabricated to boost box office sales.
Fans are now expressing their fury over the revelation.
One incensed supporter, who had clearly been rooting for the couple, established a Reddit forum titled “Betrayal: Pamela Anderson and Liam Were Never Together,” where other devotees shared their views on the non-existent relationship.
Below a photograph of Neeson and Anderson at a premiere, the original poster declared: “It was a PR stunt. We should have known.”
In the comments, someone shared the insider’s remarks to Shuter, which stated: “Their chemistry was real on camera, but off? It was strictly business Pamela Anderson is a pro, Liam Neeson is a pro – they knew leaning into the rumors would get attention.”
Beneath the post, one devastated fan penned: “I can’t believe it, how dare they break our hearts! !”
A second supporter confessed: “I’ll admit it – I was all in. I’m disappointed because I just love the idea of two older people finding each other and having a connection (eg Meryl Streep and Martin Short). It just feels cruel.”
A third person expressed their frustration: “God I don’t ask for much,” whilst a fourth questioned angrily: “Damn, weren’t people cheering for him because he’d finally found love again after his wife passed?”.
Neeson’s beloved wife, Natasha Richardson, died tragically at just 45 following a devastating brain injury from a skiing accident, leaving behind their 15-year marriage and two sons, Micheál, 30, and Daniel, 28.
Responding to the heartbreak, another fan revealed: “I was rooting for it for that reason, plus I was glad for her that she’d finally found a guy who wasn’t a skeevy dirtbag.”
Meanwhile, another outraged viewer declared: “I don’t care what people say. This is plain f****** weird. There’s pretending to be flirty but saying ‘I’m madly in love with her’ is diabolical. LOL. IM MAD.”
Additional reactions poured in, with fans writing: “I was always skeptical, but, at the same time, I wanted so badly to believe this one was real,” and “I, by default, presume that every Hollywood couple paraded in front of us is fake on some level.”
Another chimed in: “Didn’t his son and his deceased wife’s sister make a comment about it too? That’s kind of… Idk, it seems a bit bizarre but maybe I’m just clutching my pearls.”
The fan was alluding to Joely Richardson, the sister of Neeson’s late wife, who had posted several heart emojis on one of Anderson’s posts about Naked Gun, reports the Irish Star.
In the meantime, Neeson’s son Daniel publicly endorsed his father’s apparent blossoming romance with Anderson. During their appearance on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen noted that all of Neeson’s friends are “very much stanning this relationship” before turning to Daniel in the audience and asking, “right, Danny?” To which Daniel responded affirmatively from the crowd.
However, fans continued to express their surprise, with one stating: “Nah, it’s weird. I’m kind of side eyeing both of them now.”
Shuter’s source wrapped up by saying, “It was clever marketing. People want to believe in romance, and Hollywood knows love stories move tickets.”
