Jessie J has disclosed that she needs additional surgery following her cancer diagnosis.
Earlier this year, the pop icon revealed she had been diagnosed with early breast cancer and underwent an operation after finding a 4 – 5cm lump, putting her career on hold during her recovery.
Previously speaking about her experience, she said that the devastating illness had “robbed her of memories” with her young son. Jessie explained: “I found a lump, I went and got checked, they said, ‘We can see and feel the lump, but on the ultrasound it looks fine,’ so because I have youngish breast tissue, it looked healthy.”
Her warning signs included a heavy arm, along with pins and needles. Her biopsy appointment, occurring just one day after her birthday, revealed that she had high-grade cancer cells, leaving her in floods of tears.

She subsequently had a mastectomy to remove her affected breast, opting against radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
However, Jessie has now confirmed that whilst there’s no cause for alarm, she must undergo a second procedure. In a statement, the artist said: “Unfortunately, I have to have a second surgery – nothing too serious, but it has to be done by the end of this year. This falls in the middle of the tour I had booked. I’m so sorry, I feel frustrated and sad, but I need to be better, I need to be healed.”, reports the Mirror.
Jessie’s tour dates, which were scheduled to commence in October, have now been postponed. A spokesperson confirmed the revised dates for her forthcoming tour.
The revelation of Jessie’s second operation follows her candid discussion about how her diagnosis impacted her, both personally and in her relationships with loved ones. Speaking on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, the singer revealed: “Yesterday I sobbed. I feel like I can’t be a mum to my son, and I miss him”.

The emotional burden of the ordeal proved overwhelming. “I had moments where I thought, ‘this is going to go left and I’m going to die.”
She remembered the instant medics broke the devastating news: “When they told me I just burst into tears. The doctors had said it was probably just a cyst, so I wasn’t too worried.”
Despite her terror, she stayed committed to her musical career. “I was so busy with work after the diagnosis, I don’t think I processed things properly,” she explained, recalling her final pre-operation show at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball with Barclaycard.
“That euphoria and energy… when I was put to sleep, I replayed that moment in my head.”
The overwhelming support from admirers that evening remained with her. “I wish everyone who has ever been diagnosed with anything scary could experience what I did. The whole crowd erupted… It was like a giant hug.”
Following the procedure, Jessie was overwhelmed with emotion upon seeing her partner, Chanan Safir Colman.
“I was so happy to be alive,” she said, breaking down in tears. She later revealed how her mum was there for her during her recovery: “Mum was massaging my boob for me, because I can’t touch the scars. I started sobbing, ‘I can’t believe this has happened.’ She was like, ‘I wish it was me,’ and then I’m crying, she’s crying.”
