Paul Hollywood’s brother Lee was attacked in a brutal assault by a man after their dogs started barking at each other in a park earlier this month
Great British Bake Off star Paul Hollywood reportedly rushed to Liverpool in a helicopter after his brother was attacked. The 59-year-old’s brother Lee was kicked in the face by a dog walker after the dogs started barking at each other. He was rushed to hospital after the brutal attack.
It’s reported that Paul quickly hopped in his helicopter at his Kent home to fly the 250 miles to be at Lee’s hospital bedside in Merseyside. As Paul doesn’t yet have his full licence, it’s reported he was joined by his instructor.
A source said: “When he heard about this vile attack Paul was desperately worried for his brother and knew he needed to be there as quickly as possible.”
They added to Daily Mail : “Him and Lee are really close and hearing something like that happened was sickening for him. All he could think about was getting to Lee.
“Luckily he has been taking flying lessons for two years and wasted no time in calling his instructor and getting airborne.”
It meant that Paul got to his brother’s side hours quicker than he would by driving.
It’s reported he stayed up with his brother for two days before flying back home, stopping in Stoke-on-Trent for fuel.
Daily Star has contacted a representative for Paul for comment.
Lee, 54, was hospitalised earlier this month after an argument with another man sparked by an altercation between their dogs.
The incident happened at Links View Playing fields on August 8 at around 7.10pm.
Lee’s and another man’s dogs began barking at each other, with Lee being punched in the “unprovoked” attack after the dogs were separated.
The Wirral Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Leasowe last night, Friday 8 August. The man, who is in his 50s, was walking his dog on Links View Playing fields, near to Shackleton Road, at around 7.10pm when his dog and another dog, which was being walked by another male, began barking at each other.
“The dogs were separated by the other male who then became irate. As the man walked away he was approached from behind and punched to the floor by the male. He was then kicked in the face and back before the male made off.
“The man suffered injuries to his back and face and was taken to hospital for treatment. An investigation is underway and witness and CCTV enquiries are in the process of being carried out.”
Detective Inspector Phil Ryan added: “This was a nasty and unprovoked assault which left the man needing hospital treatment.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Links View Playing fields or Shakleton Road at around 7pm last night who heard or saw the incident or saw the male leaving the area to contact us.”
Paul also asked his followers for any help on social media.
