Huge DJ turned down I’m A Celeb for ‘insulting’ reason that will surprise fans

A music legend has said he once turned down the chance to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after being offered what he branded an “insulting” deal. Superstar DJ Judge Jules, who’s been behind the decks for more than three decades, told Daily Star that ITV bosses tried to tempt him into the jungle but he didn’t really appreciate the opportunity.

When asked if he’d ever fancy dipping his toe into reality TV, Judge Jules didn’t mince his words and said: “I was offered I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on a few occasions, and I didn’t want to do it first and foremost because I felt that, in several seasons, it has almost become a platform for public figures trying to revive their careers.

“I’ve never really needed a career resurrection. However, I wouldn’t be able to take an unlimited and indeterminate amount of time out of my DJ schedule, as it’s always hectic. So, because it was people trying to resurrect their careers, I almost thought it was an insult to be asked to do it back in the day and didn’t particularly want to do it.”

The star also spoke about his proudest career moments as he reflected over his 30+ years in the music biz.

He shared: “I think the biggest achievement for anybody in the music business is to make a full-time career as a musician or within the music industry anyway, and not to be a hobbyist or a part-time musician. Once you’ve got past that milestone, which very few people achieve and many people aspire to, then everything else is just happy days and plain sailing.

“You could talk about performing to maybe a million people in the Love Parade in Berlin, playing gigantic shows, still being relevant and exceptionally busy in my fourth decade as a DJ.

“It’s my proudest achievement, because not many people have managed to do that. Most people you know, if they do have a period of making a full-time career out of music, have a fairly short moment in the sun, and the majority of people end up only being hobbyists or aspire to make a full-time career out of the music business. So that is my biggest achievement by far.”
