Katie Price has broken her silence after she topped the charts. The former glamour model said she was “shocked” to see her 2017 song, I Got U, soar to the top of the iTunes singles chart on Saturday (August 30) and, taking to her Instagram story, shared her verdict on the news. It comes just weeks after the star celebrated another win, having finally sold her Mucky Mansion.

While the single didn’t make much of an impact upon its release eight years ago, it has had an unexpected resurgence that even Katie “didn’t see coming at all.” “Wow! I never, ever, ever, ever, ever, in a million years, did [sic] I think I’d be experiencing the fact that my song is number one,” she told her 2.7million followers.

“I mean, dreams can come true. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to be like a pop star.

“And everyone was like, no Kate, you can’t sing, you’re rubbish, you’re this, you’re that. Well, it just goes to prove, if you keep… keep going, manifesting things, it can happen.

“My childhood dream, today, has come true.”

She went on to thank “everyone out there who has made this happen” and admitted she hadn’t expected to reach number one. “I’m shocked, I didn’t see this coming at all,” she confessed.

“I’m number one at the moment, let’s see what happens tomorrow!”

Speaking about the achievement, a representative for the former glamour model told The Sun: “This is a massive surprise for Kate, she’s always loved singing and this is a dream come true!

“She is having so much support from the public and can’t thank them enough for her latest entrance into the charts.”

I Got U isn’t Katie’s only musical venture. In 2006, she released a cover of A Whole New World, originally from the Aladdin film, with then-husband Peter Andre. The song spent five weeks in the charts, peaking at number 12.

The pair’s ongoing feud has made headlines once again in recent weeks after Katie claimed she had been “banned” from appearing in a new ITV reality show starring the ex-couple’s daughter, Princess. Andre and his wife, Emily MacDonagh, feature in the series, titled The Princess Diaries.

But in a statement, Andre accused Katie of making “baseless accusations” against him, adding that the children the couple share have been in his care since 2018 “for their safety.”

Taking to X, people were quick to comment on the media personality’s achievement. One fan wrote: “Katie Price is officially NUMBER 1 on UK iTunes. The British Whitney is coming to slay.”

Another wrote: “I Got U by Katie Price getting the Running Up That Hill / Murder on the Dancefloor treatment on iTunes.” Both Kate Bush and Sophie Ellis-Bextor saw their hits fly up the charts years after their initial release when they featured in Stranger Things and Saltburn respectively.

Lyrics to Katie’s recent hit include: “Touch me like no one else/You’ve got me under your spell/Take me a million miles from where we are/Hold me until the moon don’t see the stars,” and: “I know, I know, I know/I got you, oh, I got you.”
