Jennifer Lopez’s most iconic horror movie is now available to watch.
The 1997 action adventure film stars the char-topping singer alongside Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Johnathan Hyde and Owen Wilson.
Anaconda follows a documentary crew on an expedition in the Amazon rain forest, led by a snake hunter whose only goal is to find a giant green anaconda that is the stuff of legend.
The film was a box office success and is the first film in the Anaconda movie franchise, followed by Anacondas: The Hunt for Blood and three television sequels.
A new Anaconda film is reportedly set for release on 25 December this year, produced by Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. JLo was 26-years-old when she starred in the 90s cult classic.
Ice Cube has previously admitted that he agreed to take the role “only if his character lived and helped kill the snake”.
Critics have praised the film’s “bonkers” story line and noted that “you wouldn’t get this kind of crew on a monster movie these days”.
One wrote: “Anaconda is bonkers (yes), but it’s also consistent and cohesive in a self-conscious manner, embracing every ridiculous and over-the-top insanity that made it a cult classic over the years.”
Another critiqued: “This surprise hit is unpretentious and silly; it never forgets what it is – a campy “Jaws” clone,” while a third said: “The monster looks like a maniacal garden hose in a couple of sequences. Still, it delivers the necessary thrills and chills.”
Someone else on Reddit wrote: “Anaconda, which features Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube, is unintentionally hilarious, iconic and so-bad-it’s-great.”
