Fashion designer Giorgio Armani has died aged 91. The Italian designer is one of the most well known names in fashion, and it’s thought he was worth a whopping $12.1billion (£9b), making him the richest queer person in the world.
His company announced that he had died in Milan, Italy in a statement on Thursday. It read: “In this company, we have always felt like part of a family.
“Today, with deep emotion, we feel the void left by the one who founded and nurtured this family with vision, passion, and dedication.
“But it is precisely in his spirit that we, the employees and the family members who have always worked alongside Mr Armani, commit to protecting what he built and to carrying his company forward in his memory, with respect, responsibility, and love.”

The funeral chamber will be set up this weekend in Milan at Via Bergognone 59. His funeral will be held privately, as per his request.
Armani was set to celebrate the company’s 50-year anniversary this month.
He was chairman, creative designer and chief executive officer of the company.
However back in June, it appeared he was struggling with his health.

Giorgio did not take the final bow at the 2026 shows for his namesake brand or Emporio Armani.
A statement from the company said he was “currently recovering at home” but did not provide details further than that.
Instead, Leo Dell’Orco, head of menswear design, took the final bow.
Giorgio founded Armani in 1975, eventually expanding from just fashion to music, sport and luxury hotels.
He has been credited with being the most successful Italian designer, and for being a driving force behind red-carpet fashion.
