Kate Ferdinand became overcome with emotional as she spoke about being a stepmum to husband Rio Ferdinand’s kids.
The reality TV star, formerly known as Kate Wright, broke down during filming of the pair’s intimate new BBC documentary, Rio and Kate: Becoming a Stepfamily.
The documentary will follow Kate, 28, as adapts to former footballer Rio’s family life.
She has recently become a stepmum to Rio’s three children Lorenz, Tate and Tia, who he shared with late wife Rebecca Ellison, who tragically died from breast cancer in 2015.
The documentary follows the Rio and former TOWIE star Kate in the months leading up to their wedding, as she prepares for her new role as stepmum to Rio’s grieving children.

In tears, she says: “I just want the children to be happy.
“It’s hard for us so I just can’t imagine how hard it is for the kids.”
Rio, 41, is also heard saying: “There ain’t no manual that tells you how to become a stepmum.”
It seems like to documentary will also show happier moments though as viewers get a glimpse of Kate and Rio’s wedding day.
Rio adds: “You feel you’ve been dealt a terrible hand but your luck can change.”

The pair tied the knot last year, with Kate donning a stunning lace dress for the lavish ceremony.
Talking about the documentary on Instagram last month, Kate wrote: “This is a hugely important and personal project for @rioferdy5 and I.
“For the last year we have been filming a new @bbcone documentary ‘Rio and Kate: Becoming a Step Family’
“We have been on such a journey and we really hope the film will help other step families and those experiencing the journey of grief, coming soon.”
Rio and Kate: Becoming a Stepfamily will air on Monday 10 February at 9pm on BBC One
