Telly bosses have pulled the plug on Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s consumer show.
It was hoped Do The Right Thing would become a firm fixture in the schedules. But after two series it has been ditched.
An insider said: “After a number of meetings, bosses have decided not to commission another series of Do The Right Thing.
“The show worked well and everyone was happy with it, but the top brass at Channel 5 have decided to focus investment on other shows.”
Do The Right Thing was dubbed a cross between Watchdog and Surprise Surprise. Its tag line promised viewers: “We laugh out loud at ridiculous red tape, fight social injustices, and campaign to change laws.”

The show saw Ruth and Eamonn crack down on rogue companies with the help of TV legend Esther Rantzen and celebrity reporters Roman Kemp and Michael Underwood.
But the format failed to win over enough viewers.
Our source added: “Eamonn and Ruth are massively popular, but even they couldn’t make the show a big enough success to keep it on the air.”
A Channel 5 spokeswoman confirmed last night there were no plans for another series of Do The Right Thing. But bosses have not ruled out reviving it in the future. Eamonn and Ruth have fronted a string of shows for Channel 5 in recent years.

They include panel show It’s Not Me, It’s You and documentary series How The Other Half Lives.
Channel 5 is now home to a string of household names after a rebrand.
Figures earlier this year showed the network has increased its viewing share thanks to hits such as the revenge drama Cold Call, which starred Sally Lindsay.
The channel’s plans include programmes featuring Sir Tony Robinson, Michael Portillo, Anita Rani, Angela Rippon and Neil Morrissey.
