Jimmy Tarbuck undergoing operation as he's 'showing signs' of prostate cancer

Jimmy Tarbuck has revealed he is set to have an operation as he’s showing symptoms of prostate cancer.

The comedy legend, currently 79, says the operation, which will take place after his 80th, will allow him to find out about the worrying health scare for good.

Tarbuck said close friend Tom Jones is helping him through the cancer nightmare.

Talking about his 80th birthday, which is next Wednesday, Jimmy said: “The day after, I am going in for an operation and I will be getting myself right again.

“They need to do a biopsy to find out if I have got prostate cancer.”

Talking about Tom Jones he continued telling The Mirror: “Jonesy knows. He is very helpful and gives me a lot of encouragement.

Jimmy, who has been in the limelight for six decades, said that knowing Rod Stewart previously battled prostate cancer has helped him face his fears.

He aded: “The thought of having prostate cancer is scary but I am determined to face it head on – and that’s because of learning that Rod Stewart has gone through it too.”

The Liverpudlian star previously had to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing in 2006 because of heart problems.

Tarbuck rose to fame in the 1960s and was awarded an OBE for services to showbusiness and charity in 1994.

He was a host of Sunday Night at the London Palladium in the mid-1960s.

The star also hosted numerous game shows and quiz shows on ITV during the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s.
