Meghan Trainor 'had drama' with The Voice co-star Olly Murs over possible lawsuit

Meghan Trainor first bonded with Olly Murs over a possible lawsuit.

These days the US singer shares a red spinning chair with Olly on ITV’s The Voice.

But they first became aware of one another when Meghan was accused of copying his music.

She told me: “We had hilarious drama back in the day because he had a song called Dance With Me Tonight and everyone was saying my song Dear Future Husband has exactly the same chords.

“When I found out I was doing The Voice I went up to him and said, ‘I’m so sorry’. Fortunately he didn’t sue me, so that was our ice breaker and then we went out for a whole night together and he told me how the show was going to be. He’s been the best.”

Getting to appear on TV with Sir Tom Jones has also been inspiring for Meghan but her biggest joy is hanging out with will.i.am.

She cooed: “I actually met will.i.am a few years ago when I performed my single, No.

“He was like, ‘Yo, did you write that? That’s awesome’. I got to know him and he is everything you dream of.”

Meghan is back in the chart with new album Treat Myself and it features another unfortunate pop coincidence – a track that shares exactly the same title as a Niall Horan song.

She laughed: “A few weeks after I had recorded Nice To Meet Ya, I saw Niall had come out with the same thing.

“It’s funny, they are completely different songs, I feel bad but I couldn’t change it because the whole song says, ‘Nice To Meet Ya’ like a thousand times.

“I tried shortening it to Meet Ya but it didn’t make sense.”

“I feel like we had so many great voices from Ireland too, it’s like they all came over on the same bus!”

Being on The Voice means Meghan has fallen in love with Britain, but even so she won’t be buying a home here.

After seeing reports that she was house hunting, Meghan laughed: “I saw that, it was funny but you know I stay in a hotel.

“I love it here but I’m not buying anything.

“I have dogs so I don’t want to be away too long.”

I hope her neighbours are feed them on Saturday nights.
