Kate Ferdinand shares baby plans with Rio as she hopes newborn will bring them closer

Kate Ferdinand has expressed her desires to start a family with her husband Rio.

The former TOWIE star, 28, who married the professional football player following the death of his first wife Rebecca in 2015, is now ready to take the next step in their relationship.

Kate – who is already step-mother to Rio’s three children, Lorenz, 13, Tate, 11, and eight-year-old daughter Tia from his previous marriage – has admitted that she would like one more child to complete their perfect family.

Speaking on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, the reality star expressed her desires for a larger family.

“I said to Rio, say if we have a baby, when they get to five I’m going to be great,” she said.

“I know what I’m doing but that baby stage I don’t know. The kids talk about having a baby all the time. I said, ‘Rio, I’ve never changed a nappy, I’ve never had children!’”

The blonde beauty insisted that although she already feels like the kids’ mother, she can’t help but feel having one more tot will bring the entire family together.

She said: “I think [having a baby] will bring us all together, tighter, closer as a knit. It’s weird because when we’re in the house and it’s us five, I feel like their mum and I know I’m not their mum and we all feel the same. I just feel like they’re my children. It’s a normal family.”

Kate then went on to admit that she always saw herself having a large family in the future, but never predicted that her large family would include children that were not hers biologically, although emotionally they feel like her own.

The former TOWIE star’s baby revelation comes after she previously confessed that she walked out on Rio and moved back to Essex after their difficult home life left her crying “every day for a year”.

Kate revealed that she felt isolated and out of place when she first moved in with her beau.

In a new interview, Kate said they went through an “incredibly difficult time” as Rio mourned the loss of his mum Janice, two years after the death of his wife Rebecca.

Kate explained it all got too much and she ended up moving back to her “little flat in Essex”.

She told You magazine: “I cried every single day for a year when I first moved in with Rio. It was an incredibly difficult time.

“Nothing in the house was mine; everyone called it ‘Rio’s house’.

“All the photographs were of Rebecca and the children. I had no place. I bought a bottle and put it downstairs but it got taken away.

“As stupid as it sounds, that crushed me, but what was making me feel more isolated was if I said those things out loud people would think I was pathetic and selfish.”

However, the couple managed to get through the tough times and made living together work – with Kate taking on the role of step-mum.
