British rapper Slowthai has issued a grovelling apology to both his fans and comedian Katherine Ryan after he leered at her on stage at the 2020 NME Awards.
Minutes after crudely telling the host that she’d “not ever had anyone play with her like him” he chucked a drink into the heckling crowd and started a fight.
He was later removed from the venue.
In a grovelling Twitter apology, Slowthai, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, said: “NME please forward my award to Katherine Ryan for she is the hero of the year.
“What started as a joke between us escalated to a point of shameful actions on my part.
“I want to unreservedly apologise, there is no excuse and I am sorry. I am not a hero. “

He added in a second tweet: “Katherine, you are a master at your craft and next time I’ll take my seat and leave the comedy to you.
“To any woman or man who saw a reflection of situations they’ve been in in those videos, I am sorry.
“I promise to do better. Let’s talk here.”
Replying to the public apology, Katherine, 36, said: “I knew you were joking and congratulations on your very award-worthy album!

“I hope you know that a bad day on social media passes so quickly.
“Everything will be better tomorrow.”
Slowthai’s bizarre onstage antics were watched by a crowd of shocked VIP guests including Charli XCX, Taylor Swift and Laura Whitmore at the O2 Academy in Brixton on Wednesday night.
After he picked up his award for Hero of the Year, Slowthai made a beeline for Katherine, saying: “You jealous, you jealous.
“She got jealous everybody. Smell my cologne, smell it. Smells good, doesn’t it?”

Getting close to the comedian, the rapper continued: “Baby girl, I don’t want to have to do this to you right now but everybody, she needs to understand the levels right now.
“You know what I am saying?
“If you want to do something see me later.
“She wants me to tend to her flowers. You not ever had anyone play with you like me.”
