Love Island Aftersun cancelled after Caroline Flack's tragic death

Love Island Aftersun has been cancelled this evening after Caroline Flack’s tragic death.

The 40-year-old television presenter’s body was found at her London home on Saturday after she tragically took her own life.

ITV has decided to cancel tonight’s recording of Love Island Aftersun out of respect to Caroline’s family and friends.

Love Island didn’t air over the weekend, with Saturday night’s Unseen Bits and Sunday night’s show cancelled.

ITV made a statement read out by Richard Madeley on today’s Good Morning Britain.

Richard told viewers: “I’ve got to say one thing ITV have asked us to make it clear because there has been some discussion about it.

“That they did keep in close contact with Caroline since this incident, this domestic incident and they were constantly offering her assistance and help, and they want us to make that clear on this programme.”

Caroline’s family made a statement about her tragic death, saying: “We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February.

“We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.”

A lawyer for the Flack family confirmed that Caroline took her own life and was found in her east London flat on Saturday.

Caroline’s close friend Laura Whitmore was reduced to tears as she spoke about Caroline on her BBC Radio 5 Live show on Sunday morning.

She said: “Anyone who knew Caroline knew she was vivacious, loving and had a passion for life which is why none of this makes sense. Caroline loved dancing and Angels by Robbie Williams reminds me of her because she danced to it on Strictly.

“Caroline loved music, we shared many a dance floor at festivals.

“She loved to laugh and had the most infectious chuckle.

“She also had many struggles. I am not going to pretend she was perfect but she lived every mistake publicly.

“Your words affect people. I would like to thank ITV and BBC for the support that I have had and those who supported my decision to come in today as I thought it was the right thing to do.

“To my boyfriend, who is the kindest man I know, and my whole Love Island family who are in mourning of their colleague and friend.

“I love you. To everyone, be kind in what you say.”
