Alison Hammond was accompanied by tree whisperer Holly on today’s This Morning , as they embarked on an interview with the ‘UK tree of the year’.
The pair were chatting to a 1,000-year-old Allerton oak tree in Calderstones Park in Liverpool.
The beautiful tree, which is tended to by gardener John Warren, has been named UK tree of the year, and will be competing in the European championships.
Alison, 45, was keen to get the tree’s take on what its thoughts were on bagging the prestigious accolade, and being declared a European finalist.
Alison turned to the tree and said: “You are up for this prestigious title, how does it feel to be nominated?”
The tree answered through the medium of Holly and said: “It’s very exciting, and it’s an honour.”
Alison then asked: “There is going to be very tough competition with this, how do you fancy your chances?”
Holly said: “If people get out there and vote for me [the tree], I think my chances are pretty good.”
Alison fired back: “So the tree wants people to vote?”
“It does,” Holly confidently responded.
Clearly wanting the tree to dish the dirt, Alison then quizzed: “Do the other trees get jealous of you?”
Holly said: “Other trees don’t get jealous, as it’s a community.”

Alison was also keen to know what the highlight of the tree’s life is so far.
The Celebs Go Dating star revealed she “wasn’t getting anything” from the tree. But Holly felt otherwise.
She said the tree didn’t have one specific highlight, it just loves all the years it’s been around and “all of the people that have come to visit it”.
Back in the studio, Phillip Schofield, 57, seemed less convinced than Alison about Holly’s tree-whispering powers, and therefore asked Alison to ask the tree a very specific question.
Phil wanted to know the tree’s “exact age”.
Holly said: “The tree does not measure time in the way we do – so we don’t have an exact age.”
Phil replied: “Ahh yes, of course!”

Viewers at home were left baffled over the somewhat unusual segment.
Taking to Twitter, one social networker remarked: “A tree whisperer? She’s barking mad.”
While another continued: “Mad as a box of frogs #ThisMorning why didn’t Phil ask do you mind dogs cocking their legs on you.”
A third added: “What’s going on with this talking tree on this morning. World’s gone mad I swear #ThisMorning”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
