ITV announces major shake-up by replacing Sara Cox with Martin and Roman Kemp

ITV recently announced a major shake-up for the weekend schedule which will see the nations favourite DJ, Sara Cox be replaced by former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here campmates Kate Garraway , 52, and Roman Kemp , 27, team up with Roman’s dad, Spandau Ballet bassist Martin, 58, for a brand new show.

The broadcasting company is no stranger to axings though, with Zoe Ball, 49, replacing Alex Jones before Sara Cox took over in 2019.

Sara, 45, took over from pal Zoe when the broadcaster announced that she was leaving to host a breakfast show on BBC Radio 2.

Sara’s show has been axed after just one season

After just one series and four festive special episodes, Sara’s 8:30am Saturday and Sunday show has been dropped and bosses are hoping that Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway along with Capital FM’s Roman Kemp and his dad, Martin will be the solution.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: ” ITV is determined to nail down its weekend morning offering. Sara’s run has ended, so it has turned elsewhere to see if that’s where the answers lie.”

Legendary broadcaster Sara said: “ITV passed me the morning TV baton for one series last year and it was brilliant to have live music, great guests and taking my dogs on set.

“Now it’s time to pass the baton on. If Kate and the Kemps have half as much fun as I did, they’ll be very happy.”

Kate will take the reins in Spring, presenting Breakfast At Garraway’s on a Saturday morning, with Myles Stephenson joining her.

Martin and Roman Kemp’s Sunday Best will air the following day featuring music and celebrity guests, with sources believing Jacqueline Jossa could feature on the show.

A spokeswoman for ITV said in a statement: “We loved working with Sara and were pleased with the show which aired for a full series and finished in the summer in addition to four Christmas special shows which performed well.”

Daily Star Online has contacted ITV for comment.
