Coronation Street ‘s Ali Neeson’s days are numbered on the Corrie cobbles, following actor James Burrows’ decision to leave the show.
Finally, Coronation Street spoilers have revealed how the doctor will exit Weatherfield – and it’s not without heartbreak.
In upcoming scenes, Ali’s friends and family will start to worry his drug addiction has returned, when he collapses during a check-up.
Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) presumes the doctor has overdosed on diazepam and calls an ambulance in a panic.
When Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) see Ali getting loaded into the vehicle on a stretcher, they start to panic.
Gary tells debt collector Sharon (Naomi Cooper-Davis), warning her that she is to blame if anything happens to Ali.
When Ali regains consciousness, he tries to convince Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) he never took any drugs, but he refuses to believe him.
Ali tells his brother that Gary spiked his drink, but Ryan insists he’s in denial over his addiction.
Later on, Maria climbs into his car and quizzes him about his addiction, convinced he needs to return to rehab.
Furious, Ali locks the car doors and starts driving wildly down the road, sending Maria into a panic.
When she’s finally released, Maria confides in Gary, discussing Ali’s theory about his drink being spiked – but he manages to convince her otherwise.
Heartbroken, Ali tells Maria he can no longer wait on the sidelines as she continues her relationship with Gary.
Leaving Weatherfield, he moves away for a fresh start – and to heal his broken heart.
Coronation Street airs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
