Corrie's Charlie Condou 'knocked man to the floor' after he 'grabbed his ar*e'

Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou has taken to social media to revealed how he was forced to “explain himself” to soap bosses after he “knocked a man to the floor” following an incident in Manchester.

The actor, who was on Corrie from 2007 to 2014, says he was groped when he was in the heart of the city’s gay district, which caused him to lash out.

At the time Charlie was playing Marcus Denton the hit soap.

Charlie tweeted: “Someone grabbed my arse on Canal street once and said ‘let’s have a go on that Marcus’.

“I knocked him to the floor.

“Don’t recommend that though, had to explain myself to the producer.”

He later added to a concerned fan: “Someone had apparently filmed in on their phone and they were worrying about the press.

“It never surfaced though.”

A rep for Charlie Condou has been contacted by Daily Star Online.

Charlie played Marcus Dent on Coronation Street until 2014

Last month, Charlie left BBC series Holby City after a brief stint on the show.

He had been on the medical drama since September 2019.

Despite his departure, Charlie told Lorraine Kelly that he could return should he wish to.

The actor explained: “It’s just a stint. Just a little stint.

Charlie opened up about the incident on Twitter

“The door was very much left open.

“I’ve had conversations with them, you never know, watch this space.”

Explaining why he preferred the job to his time on Corrie in some aspects, Charlie added: “I loved my time at Coronation Street but being in Manchester was really difficult because my family were in London and i wasn’t getting to see them.

“Holby’s perfect because I can drop my kids off at school and be at Holby in 15 minutes.”
