Maura Higgins' Dancing on Ice partner Alex Demetriou hit by claims 'marriage collapsing'

Maura Higgins ‘ Dancing on Ice partner Alexander Demetriou is reportedly “close to announcing marriage is over” to his wife of four years Carlotta Edwards, but ITV have said the claims are “untrue”.

The 29-year-old professional dancer is reportedly close to announcing that he has split from the 29-year-old Canadian skater after being together for 11 years.

The alleged news comes just days after Love Island babe Maura, 29, announced that she and co-star Curtis Pritchard, 24, have split up.

Reports suggest Alexander’s marriage has ended after he was paired with the stunning Irish former ring girl.

A source reportedly close to the couple told The Sun on Sunday that Alexander and Carlotta are “putting on a united front”.

The source said: “Alex’s marriage to Carlotta is all but over, after 11 years together.

“They are trying to put on a united front for now, but the writing is on the wall.

“They haven’t been happy together in months, and Alex has been confiding in Maura about their personal problems, which hasn’t helped.”

The source alleged: “He is besotted with her, and feels she is a much better fit for him than Carlotta, who is livid she is being pushed to one side.”

A spokeswoman for ITV has told Daily Star Online that the story is “untrue”.

Just last week Maura announced she and Curtis had split-up after making the “joint decision” to call time on their relationship.

Taking to her Instagram, she wrote: “Curtis and I have made the decision to separate.

“We enjoyed a great experience from our time in the villa and want to thank everyone for supporting our relationship.

“There is no easy way to get through a breakup and no bad feeling on either side.

“We tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be, and I wish Curtis nothing but the best for the future,” followed by a broken heart emoji.

Daily Star Online has contacted Alexander Demetriou’s representatives for comment.
